Problem installing 1Password from Mac App Store
I just bought 1Password from the App Store. I'm running the following:
OS-X 10.7.1
Safari 5.1..>Reset
1Password 3.9.0
1Password Safari Extension 3.8.2
When I installed the extension and entered m y master password (twice) and entered a hint. Hitting "Continue" did nothing except blink the window.
When I restarted Safari and pressed the "1P' button I was asked again for my master password and got the message "1Password agent is not connected."
The help suggestions refers to the 1Password Help menu; however there is no Help items referred to:
Help>Troubleshooting>Reset Folder Permissions;
Help>Troubleshooting>Diagnostics Report.
They aren't there.
I've never had this kind of problem installing any other software from the App Store. I followed all of your instructions. You need to get your act together.

This looks like a problem discussed in this thread: Mac App Store Installation Issues.
Please see if running this command in Terminal will help:
chmod -RN /var/db/launchd.db/com.apple.launchd.peruser.501/overrides.plist
Flag 0 -

Roustem,
I ran that command but it would not work. I was told "no such file or directory".

I am sorry, I should have given you the command that does not depend on a particular user id. Please try this:
chmod -RN /var/db/launchd.db/com.apple.launchd.peruser.$UID/overrides.plist
Flag 0 -

Does anyone at 1Password read this forum. I had a response from my first post which suggested a series of terminal commands that did nothing to fix my problem. You seem to have given up on me. I posted the terminal results of the last commands you suggested to another user; but no response yet. Tried a restart which worked for one user. Not for me. I still can't use this product.

I had 1Password 3.8 installed using Dropbox. After installing 3.9 from the Appstore 1Password crashes immediately and will not start. I have tried all the suggestions I found in the forums. Deleted all preferences, etc and retried the installation same result.
Application Specific Information:
dyld: launch, running initializers
/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib
xpchelper reply message validation: sandbox creation failed: 1002
Container object initialization failed: The file couldn’t be opened.

I have the same problem as deercreekendo. I upgraded to 3.9 from 3.8.5 and it crashes on launch.
I've tried pretty much everything: Repairing permissions on my HD, ran the terminal command in roustem's post, restarting.
I even went as far as deleting the 1Password app, preferences, app support folder, agile launch agents. And then after a restart, installed 3.9 from scratch, but it still crashes on launch; although on the first attempt to launch after a fresh install, the 1Password icon bounced for longer before it crashed.
I was using Dropbox as well, but it shouldn't matter since I removed the preferences for the virgin install.
It looks like I have the same crash report that deercreekendo has:
Application Specific Information:
dyld: launch, running initializers
/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib
xpchelper reply message validation: sandbox creation failed: 1002
Container object initialization failed: The file couldn’t be opened.
I also had this in my console after all my crashes, both before and after I attempted roustem's terminal fix.

I found the solution in another post in the forums. [#8]
My Downloads folder is a symlink to another drive. So I performed the follow steps to resolve the problem.
1. Deleted the symlink, and recreated the Downloads folder.
2. Launched 1Password with no issues.
3. deleted Downloads folder.
4. Recreated symlink to the Downloads folder on second drive
5. 1Password still works
I have seen this in other Appstore and Lion applications. There appears to be a bug {or feature} that does not play nice with symlinks.
Hope this helps.Flag 0 -
I seem to have a problem that is different than I see being discussed. I run 1Password with my database storage on Dropbox. I can start the application and unlock, but, the application locks itself within 10 seconds or so after the last item is clicked. I can (quickly) go into the various datatypes and see my data, but, if I don't keep clicking, the program locks itself.Flag 0

Hey John,
In the future if you have an issue that is not being discussed in the current thread, please start a new thread. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
As to your issue, it could either be that you have DisplayPad or AirDIsplay installed, or it could be the issue that is being discussed here: 1Password App Immediately Locks After UnlockingFlag 0 -

And.. where i found the datafile? Every time, if i open 1 password, i must search for that, but i have the wrong Datafile.
Where is that? Ad i use the Terminal code, but its not work.
The data file, by default, is located at ~/Library/Application Support/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain. If you are instead using Dropbox, it would be located at ~/Dropbox/1Password.agilekeychainFlag 0 -
Please reinstall 1Password 3.8 and launch it (after quitting all web browsers and 1Password 3.9). You can open up 1Password > Preferences > General and there is a spot that says "your data stored in" which will tell you the location of your 1Password data file. If you have not changed anything, it will be in ~/Library/Application Support/1Password. Note that in Lion, the ~/Library folder is hidden by default. You can access it by opening Finder and selecting Go > Go to Folder and then pasting this in and hitting enter/return:
~/Library/Application Support/1PasswordFlag 0 -
Hi MotMann,
If you leave that Finder window open (in ~/Library/Containers/[...]), you can drag and drop the 1Password.agilekeychain file into the find data window when it comes up on 3.9. Delete 3.8 before running 3.9 again though. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> It should be automatically picked up from that location, I'm not sure why it wouldn't be...Flag 0
