How to remove menubar item

Menubar does not offer unlimited space and I like to keep it at a size that enables me to see all the desired items without them being covered by the actual application menus. For that reason I sincerely dislike applications that force the installation of new menubar items without providing an option to disable or hide them. I have just "upgraded" to 1Password 3.9 and was faced with a forced installation of 1P menu item, without any (visible) option to remove it. Can anybody please suggest a way to make it go away?

    Holding down the CMD key and dragging it off the menu bar doesn't work?

    Select 1Password > Preferences > Extensions and turn off "Show helper icon in menu bar".





    Phew, so happy I added this option at the last moment.
