Backup Problem

I have a slight problem backing up my vault to my external hard drive. I use the same drive for time machine backups. I am logged in generally as a standard user.

I use the vault as a repository for my DEVONthink database which I want to backup. Its about 10gb.

When I try to do a manual backup i get the error message

An internal error prevented Knox from backing up the vault.

The vault “SAFE” couldn’t be backed up. The copy process ended with the error status 1:

ditto: /Volumes/Time Machine Backups/Safe/SAFE 2010-06-30 19.51.sparsebundle: Permission denied

Could anyone please help?

You don't have permission to create files or copy files into that SAFE folder on your Time machine external drive.

Can you go to that Safe folder and manually create folder there and see if it let you as standard user? You may have to configure the folder to allow standard users to write to that folder.
