Can't even get started - a hint please!

I feel like a complete dunce. I was trying a free trial of 1Password since it's on ½ price sale at the Mac App store and since a couple of friends use it. I have been using Password Wallet for many years.

But I can't get 1Password to log me in anywhere:

1. Nothing appears in my Safari toolbar like in the "3 minute expert guide" screenshots.

2. The fill via the dock sub menu doesn't work either. Nothing at all happens.

How do you get 1Password to actually log you in somewhere???

Thanks,

doug

    Hey Doug!

It sounds like you may not have the proper extension installed for your web browser(s)?

    Please let me know if that helps. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    Thanks for your reply, Ben.

OK. I have now added the extension. If I selected, for example, "Chase" from my logins it goes to the login page. But nothing happens after that.

With Password Wallet what happens is if I select "Chase" it goes to the page and a dialog pops up with an option to autotype. I click that, my username and password are entered and I'm logged in. But I don't see anything similar in 1Password, and it doesn't enter the username and password by itself so... What do I need to do?

    Thanks,

    Hi Doug,

That's strange. Are you manually entering your logins into 1Password? If so there is a much easier and more effective way to do it.

Please try saving the login manually like this:

    1. Enter your username and password, but DO NOT submit the form.

    2. Click the 1Password button in your browser's toolbar, and select the "+" button in the upper right hand corner.

    3. Change the title and make any notes (if desired).

    4. Click the Save button in the upper right hand corner.

Once you have a login properly saved in 1Password you should be able to fill it in a couple of ways:

    1. Visit the page and either hit Command+\ on your keyboard or click on the 1P button and select your login

    2. Use the Go & Fill feature (available by keyboard shortcut, the 1P button in your browser, the 1P helper icon in your menu bar, ... etc, it's everywhere!) which will take you to the page and then fill the form.

No, I didn't manually enter them. I used the import option of importing a Password Wallet text export file. It seems to have populated all the logins with usernames and passwords.

    Thanks,

Thanks Doug. Please try the steps I mentioned above for any imported logins that are not working.

Thanks, I appreciate your assistance. But I think if just importing doesn't work I will pass on this for now and perhaps return sometime at a later version. There are just too many entries to fiddle with manually. Thanks very much though.
