Long time user of 1Password, currently running on 2 Macs, iPad, iPhone.

Just purchased MAS version 3.9 and upgraded on MacBook Air running Lion.

    1. New entries do not show up on iPad or iPhone. I suspect Dropbox sync is not working. How do I fix this?

    2. Entries added to folders disappear from folder when 1Password is restarted.

    3. MenuBar drop down does not show new folders created, even after reboot.

I cannot recommend purchase of 3.9 to my attorneys if there are this many bugs. Potential loss of revenue to Agile in the neighborhood of $500 to $1000.

    Agile, please advise. Thank you.

  • Hi all,

I just bought 1P from the MAS but can't seem to have DropBox sync at all. I've been using DropBox for quite some time so I feel quite confident on how it workd. However, as I'm a new user 1P, I don't know what could have happened!

When looking at the documentation, I noticed even the screeshots are different! I don't have the "Move to Dropbox" button and the "Use DropBox" button is grayed-out! I also don't have the "Check for new version" menu entry in the 1P menu.

Plenty of differences I can't explain!

    Any help really is welcome!

    Thanks.
  • I have the same problem for folders and generated passwords. I'm using dropbox and 1Password 3.9 from the MAS (upgraded from 3.8.x). My limited testing points to the firefox extension (3.8.2).

    Dropbox problem fixed:

    1. Preferences

    2. General

    3. "Your Data Stored In"

    4. Choose Dropbox (you have to click on the button)

The upshot of this is that installing MAS 1Password doesn't automatically grab the storage location of your file.

    5. On your other devices, it will take a long time for 1Password to sync the first time.

    One down, two to go.

    You're kidding us, right?

    Updated release, please.
  • The Safari extension will sync them back.

I removed the safari extension, opened 1Password, removed the folders, emptied the trash and installed the extension again and that worked.

This workaround was put here one the board somewhere by the crew.
  • Having the same problem.

Firefox extension definitely a culprit. I have imported data via an CSV file from Lastpass and I have installed all the browser extensions. I can reproduce the problem consistently with the following steps on OS X Lion 10.7:

    1. Close all browsers except Firefox (6.0).

    2. Open 1Password (3.9.0 build 39001, bought from Mac app store)

    3. Attempt to delete folders. Folders immediately reappear.

    4. Uninstall Firefox extension.

    5. Delete folders in 1Password again. Folders do NOT reappear.

    6. Reinstall Firefox extension.

    7. Folders reappear in 1Password!!

    Very frustrating - not a great first impression <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
  • Same here. Looking at the changelog for 3.8.5 it sounds like there was an issue like this involving the browser extensions that was fixed, so maybe that change hasn't made it into 3.9 yet. One of the difficulties of running two branches, I guess.

Thanks for the update, Sandy. I'm glad that Dropbox issue was resolved for you.

I merged your numerous other threads into this one since the reply to all of them is the same. I was able to reproduce the issues and have passed them along to the developers in order to get them fixed in an update. I appreciate you reporting them!

alainler, please try reinstalling Dropbox. It sounds like 1Password cannot detect your Dropbox installation. Is your Dropbox folder located outside of your home folder?

Also, the Mac App Store controls all updates for 1Password 3.9 and later, so there is no "Check for Updates" from within 1Password 3.9.

    Hi,

I have just installed 3.9 and it is no longer syncing with Dropbox. The 'Use Dropbox' button is greyed out when I try to click it.

I have re-installed Dropbox but have the same problem. Currently the data is being stored here:

    /Users/Hibbsy/Library/Containers/com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/Data/Documents

instead of on Dropbox. Please help!
  • Even if workaround works we need a response from developer that this is going to be fixed.

  • Khad,

I did try to reinstall 1P and it's not better! To make sure, I have created a capture of my preference screen and I hope you'll be able to help. Find the screen capture here.

    Thanks.

    Khad,

I am running Lion on my Air, and I did the "right thing" and bought the MAS copy. At home, my MacBook Pro is Snow Leopard, so I can't update it to MAS version. After a copy of days, I managed to reset the Air, Pro, iPad, and iPhone to the point where everything looked OK and was syncing properly to Dropbox. Friday night was scary, because I got a lot of "duplicate" file errors from Dropbox, but I turned on "resolve duplicates" on the Pro and I thought everything was OK.

Then suddenly I realized later that night that my Apple folder, with all my Apple passwords, was empty on my Pro. I dragged them back in from the All Passwords smart folder and didn't think about it for the rest of the weekend.

Today I have discovered that due to the folder bug, on all my devices, I have lost ALL my correct Apple passwords. They've been scrambled. None of them work. 17 passwords.

I cannot tell you how dismayed I am over this. And now I am in danger of ALL my passwords, 100s of them, being corrupt.

Since you have discontinued direct support, I don't know who to turn to.

    It's a very scary situation.

I cannot tell you how dismayed I am that 1Password now corrupts and destroys entries.

I am at the end of my rope.

Now it's down to this: every time I work on my passwords in 1Password, I have to close the program afterward, wait for Dropbox to sync, then copy the dropbox file to a local folder on my Air, add the date in front of it, and make absolutely sure it's backed up on my Air. This is to protect the file from getting trashed when I go home tonight and open 1Password on my MacBookPro.

I can't be believe it's come to this.

Who knows what will happen if I try to access my passwords from my iPad or iPhone.

When Khad says: "I merged your numerous other threads into this one since the reply to all of them is the same. I was able to reproduce the issues and have passed them along to the developers in order to get them fixed in an update," I sincerely hope he is being for real and that Agile will fix the problems.

I have lost completely faith in Agile—which is saying a lot. I have loved 1Password for years, recommended it to everyone, and I buy hundreds of Mac programs for OS X, iPad, and iPhone every year. Certain companies have really been great, like OmniGroup, the guy who makes Things, Agile, the VLC company.

Now probably the program I depend on the MOST is no longer dependable.

I thought I was being paranoid yesterday when I posted above that 1Password was indiscriminately hosing my passwords. Not. This morning I discovered my VISA card info was wrong. It's from 2 months ago! I can't recover a past version of the file from Dropbox because we had to move it to the root folder. Even turning on Airport mode first on my iPhone before going into 1Password doesn't help.

So now I'm in a situation where some undetermined number of my password files are bad, and some are good. Who knows which are which?

I'll have to use Time Machine to go back to a previous version a month ago to get the proper 1Password credentials for every password record that's incorrect.

    This is a nightmare.

Even further so because no one at Agile is addressing these concerns or responding to me.

Khad, where are you? I posted two or three perfectly reasonable questions in the past 24 hours.

Is there ANYONE at Agile who can respond to this?

Sorry for the delayed reply, Sandy. I'm not the only one in the forums, but we are all a bit busier lately. We're trying to reply to posts in the order in which they were made in order to be fair to everyone. I do apologize.

I merged another thread with this one since it was also for the trouble with folders. This should be fixed in the next update.

Alain, Popeye, Sandy: can you folks verify for me that your Dropbox folder is located in your Home folder?

Sandy, it sounds like one of the browser extensions is syncing back some old data to the main application. First of all, please be sure you are running the latest beta version of 1Password 3.8 on your non-Lion machine(s) and that you are running the MAS version on your Lion machine(s).

In 1Password 3.8 on your Snow Leopard machine:

Open 1Password

Select 1Password > Preferences from the menu bar

On the Updates pane, check the box to “Include Beta versions”

Click the “Check Now” button
Before you restore a backup (File > Restore…), please remove all the 1Password browser extensions. I would recommend pausing Dropbox syncing from the Dropbox menu bar icon before proceeding as well. That way you can perhaps isolate the problem to one machine.

Once the backup is restored, please verify that things are working well before going any further.

You will need to reinstall the browser extensions on the machine where you restored the backup and then turn Dropbox back on. Be sure Dropbox has finished syncing before turning Dropbox syncing back on on the other machine.

Once Dropbox has finished syncing between your Macs, you will need to reinstall the browser extensions on your second Mac.

Removing and reinstalling the extensions like this is very important. They each contain an encrypted copy of your data which syncs with the main application. If that data was somehow mismatched or became out of sync with the main application, you may see some of the items show up like this.

For testing purposes, you may want to keep Dropbox syncing paused just to be sure you have narrowed down the machine the with problem (or the problem has been resolved).

Again, I do apologize for the delayed reply. Please let me know how it turns out.
