Not working right off the bat..Not Solved! [SOLVED]

cherrysail
edited September 2011 in 1Password 3 for Mac
I can take the command listed in the other forum and cut and paste it but...

This is the response I get in Terminal.

chmod: Failed to clear ACL on file /var/db/launchd.db/com.apple.launchd.peruser.501/overrides.plist: No such file or directory

WTF does that mean? <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_sweating.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='(sweat)' />

Everyone has told me this is the best Passwords program but I am an app level user not terminal level.

I am sorry about the trouble. This is a problem with the file permissions in your system, it is not something that 1Password caused. I emailed Apple yesterday and hopefully they will come up with a solution that will solve this problem for everyone at once.

For now, we just have a workaround that works but it requires you to run this command. In your case the command must have failed because the user id in your system is different from 501.

Please try to run this command instead:
chmod -RN /var/db/launchd.db/com.apple.launchd.peruser.$UID/overrides.plist
• Still no go - This is completely what terminal says when I paste that in-

    Sarahs-MacBook-Air:~ sarahcherry$ chmod -RN /var/db/launchd.db/com.apple.launchd.peruser.$UID/overrides.plist

chmod: Failed to clear ACL on file /var/db/launchd.db/com.apple.launchd.peruser.501/overrides.plist: No such file or directory

Any suggestions? It is a brand new 11" MacAir running Lion

Please run this 2 commands and then let us know what they show:
echo $UID
and
ls -al /var/db/launchd.db
• Here is what it shows -

    Sarahs-MacBook-Air:~ sarahcherry$ echo $UID

    Sarahs-MacBook-Air:~ sarahcherry$ ls -al /var/db/launchd.db

    Thank you for information.

I am not sure why but it seems that you do not have the special directory for you user. It should be created automatically by the system. Could you please try to restart you Mac and see if that makes any difference?
  • works now - thank you:)

Try this Terminal command and then restart your Mac:
chmod -N /var/db/launchd.db/com.apple.launchd.peruser.`id -u`/overrides.plist
Please let me know how it goes.
  • @khad - that worked...thanks!
  • That looks as if it solved it for me too. Thanks.
