Data file location in 1Password (Mac App Store)
Hello,
I have been using 1Password for Mac and for iOS for some time now, and I am very happy with it. I have my 1Password data file at a custom location at a different HDD than the system one. With this set up I can sync my iMac and my MBP very easily, and all have been working fine till now.
I have read in your FAQs that in 1Password (Mac App Store) when you select a data file the app copy that data file to a especial location (Lion sandboxed). I have tried to used my data file at my custom location placing a symbolic link where it should be the data file. 1Password starts but it do not accept my password.
I want to know if is still possible to place the data file at a custom location using the preference of the app or a symbolic link? Or I only have the option to place the data file at the special location (Lion sandboxed) or at Dropbox?
Thanks,
Marcelo Campiglia

Hi Marcelo,
It may be possible to fool the app through some file system trickery (symbolic links, etc) but the official answer is that the keychain must exist either in the default location or in the root of the Dropbox folder.
You may have better luck storing the actual keychain in the default location, and then symlinking from there.Flag 0 -
I upgraded to Lion yesterday and after ensuring it was working properly, I purchased the new 1Password app from the MAS. Installation went smoothly and I am up and running with no problems. I do have a question regarding an extra 1Password file I just noticed in my Dropbox folder (when viewed in Safari 5.1 but doesn't show in the Finder which is why I haven't noticed it before now): .ws.agile.1password.settings. It is dated 31 July and is presumably related to my family Mac + PC bundle which I share with a Mac still using Snow Leopard and a PC. Is it something that the PC version and/or the Snow Leopard version use? I'm just wondering if I should leave it alone or discard it. Does it pose any potential security risk? Thank you for all you do!Flag 0

Hi irelander,
This file is used for syncing iOS (iPhone/iPod/iPad) as well as Android devices. All it contains is the relative path within Dropbox to your Agile Keychain. It's completely harmless, and we recommend not deleting it unless you are experiencing a problem and it is recommended to do so by one of our staff members.
If you'd like to verify for yourself, you can open it up with any text editor (TextEdit, Word, Pages, etc). It should only contain 1 line of text, which will look something like this:
1Password.agilekeychain
Thanks!
