Does download of 1Password 3.9 automatically trigger an update?

After reading about the grief folks have had with the installation of version 3.9, I'd like to hold off on my switchover to it. At the same time I'd like to take advantage of the 50%-off price with free update to version 4. Question: I know that if I purchase the app at the App Store it will automatically download and, I'm afraid, will replace my 3.8.5 version. Is that correct? If so, is there a way to prevent the automatic update?

    Hi,

It will not replace it, it will install alongside it. So long as you delete the app from /Applications/1Password/1Password.app (where the App Store installs it) without launching it, you should be fine. If you launch it, it'll kill the 1PasswordAgent. Not good. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

As always, we recommend making good backups before making any changes. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

  • I installed the new 1Password from the app store and launched it.... then closed it and went back to my older version. Am I in trouble? It seems to be working fine??? Thanks!
