Search field cleared after editing

Okay, this ticked me off today:

I needed to change the URL for 5 or 6 logins at a single site, to make the URL the same on each so all the logins would show up when I press cmd-/. I typed enough of the site name in the search field to have all of the logins appear. As I edited the URL in each login, and either clicked on the next login or clicked Edit to stop editing the current login, the Search field would be cleared and my filtered list of logins would disappear. I would have to retype the site in the search field to regain my list.

Using 3.2.5

    Hi mrtoner,

Good catch, I was able to reproduce this. I can't say if this is by design or a bug, if it is a bug it'll be fixed. If it is by design, it is probably something that should be changed to make it stay. One of the CS team will be able to response as to which one.

Yes, 1P has had this problem ever since I've used it, a real pain in the neck... I've just upgraded to 3.2.5 and it's still doing it.

You search on a string, find the entries you want, edit one and Command Save, and then 1P unilaterally decides to clear the search field and repeat the search to find everything! Why?

Please just leave the visible entries unchanged... Why repeat the search? If I want a new search, I can do it. But if I do NOT want one done, then please do NOT do one...

For a while previously, if you didn't SAVE, but instead clicked on the Edit button to stop editing, it left the visible entries that you've chosen unchanged. But this now doesn't work - this also clears the search field, and then searches again to find everything.

And if this is by design, then your design people just don't understand the problem! When editing anything, this behavior is NOT what any user wants!

    Chris1234 & mrtoner,

You guys are quite right, this is frustrating, I've just been able to replicate it myself and I can see how annoying it would be. I've just spoken with the developers and we're going to work to get this resolves in a future update, I can't give a timeframe as to when this will be available as we need to find out what exactly is causing this behaviour first.

Sorry I don't have better news yet, make sure you're keeping up with the latest updates to 1Password.

Thanks for checking with the developers on this. I'll try to update this thread when a fix is in place and tested.

What I find amazing about Agile is the constant stream of updates to their products to make them better. Other developers -- <cough>Marketcircle</cough> -- would do well to emulate their model.

Thank you so much, I know our developers are really passionate about the apps we produce and they love to squash bugs!

I totally agree. As you say, other developers -- <cough>RealMac's RapidWeaver</cough> -- would do well to emulate their model...

    Hi guys,

We just published 1Password 3.5.4, this update includes an improvement to retain the search results after editing or deleting an item. Please try this and let us know if it works well for you.

    Thanks!

    Hi!

I just picked up on this thread, and as I was trying to replicate the issue to understand it, I couldn't, wondering why... 15 minutes later, I see your post Mike, and I understand why!

I have Version 3.5.4.BETA-6 (build 30838). So... I think it works fine now. Good job!

I am glad I never was bothered by this, but very happy it is fixed nevertheless.
