IE9 64-bit Support

I'm a longtime 1Password (Mac) user who just installed the Windows version on a Win7 64-bit machine. I've been hunting the manual, web site and forums for some indication of if and when 1Password will have proper plugin support in IE 64-bit. Any official word?

Cheers,

Christopher

P.S. I'm sure this has been asked and answered before, but I did try searching before posting. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_thinking.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='(think)' />

There is no support for IE 64-bit. However, Windows 64-bit comes with both IE 32-bit and IE 64-bit.

    Welcome to the forum, Christopher!

I regret that the forum search utility is so nearly useless. For example, it doesn't allow you to search for "64 bit" because both terms are "too short." What!?

That said, documentation for Stefan's reply can be found in the user's guide:
I hope that helps, Christopher.
  • Any plans on x64 support?
  • Welcome to the forum, derekuda!

Stefan has stated here in the forum that 1Password for Windows will eventually include 64-bit extensions, but there is no information about when they might become available.

As stated in several other threads, work on all the extensions on both desktop platforms is underway, with a goal of greater consistency in appearance and functionality. I wouldn't expect to see any development of 64-bit extensions until that cross-platform development has been completed and had time to stabilize. There's also no information about how long that process might take.
  • I'm happily using 64-bit Safari 5.1.1 right now with 1Password 3.8.7 extension, so it seems the 64-bit part isn't the hold-up, but rather might be something to do with IE. Hopefully you can find enough time to get IE 64-bit support fairly soon, everything else is stupendous!
  • iduff, welcome to the forum!

1Password for Windows doesn't include an extension for Safari for Windows. Version 3.8.7 is 1Password for Mac, so I assume you're using it with Safari on a Mac.

I know of no work underway at this time to create 64-bit extensions for 1Password for Windows.
  • DBrown, yes, I'm using 1Password on both Mac-Safari/FF, as well as on Parallels VM Win7 x64 with IE9. The Win7 VM is for work, which in most cases requires IE 64-bit. Yeah, yeah, Win7 also comes with a 32-bit browser, but that's remedial. This gap is the only weakness in an otherwise stellar product; I'm hoping you find the resources to plug it!
  • iduff, please make sure you're using the latest version of 1Password for Windows, which does include an extension for Safari.

It does not, however, include any 64-bit extensions.

I don't understand how a 32-bit browser is "remedial"—it works great for me.

I do not see how 32-bit IE on Win 64-bit is "remedial" or "a weakness". Most applications you're running on Win 64-bit are actually 32-bit.
  • Hello, I would like to use 1Password for windows 7 64Bit with firefox 8 due to several plugins not working with ie.

I would also just use the 32bit version of firefox. Unfortunatelly I do not know how I am able to use the 32 bit version on win 7 64 bit...

    Anybody has an idea?

Simply download Firefox here: http://www.getfirefox.com. The download is 32-bit.
