Generated Password not Entered When Open Banking Site
I followed the instructions and created a generated password for my banking site (chase.com). Hiowever, I am able to get the username auto-entered but cannot get the password to auto-enter. I have tried opening the Windows version of 1Password and double-clicking on the chase entry and I just get the username. I have also gone to the chase.com website and the system enters something and all I get is a blank (black) screen. However, if I open 1Password on the PC and copy the generated password and paste into the box, the website logs me in.
I would love to keep this product but am very frustrated trying to get it to work seamlessly with Windows. I prefer Chrome browser and am running Windows XP Pro.

Welcome to the forum, tsrconsult!
Have you saved a Login for the chase.com login page?
If so, please select it in the list area (the upper right quadrant of the 1Password window).
When it's selected, please look at it in the details area (the lower right quadrant of the 1Password window).
Please take a screen shot of the details area, and post it here. (For your security, be sure to obscure the username.)
Thanks!
P.S. If you don't see a value in both the username and password field, please see the instructions in How do I use a generated password? in the FAQ section of the user's guide for tips.Flag 0 -
Attached is the file. By the way, what is the best way to paste a file? I had to use the attach; is there a way to paste to this forum without uplaoding a file?Flag 0

Also I am very happy to have this forum with great support and quick responses. However, it would be really great to talk to someone about using the program. I very adept at learning software but have not been able to "wrap my arms around" 1Password. It appears that there is no phone support available ... is that correct?
In the meantime, here are a couple of my basic questions:
I used to use Keepass and I imported everything into my 1Password file. On the bottom of the login screen are several fields with options for name, value, type and designation. I don't understand the difference between type and designation...both have a "username" and "password" option. Are these fields explained anywhere in the help?
Also, what is the easiest way to use the program when logging onto a password protected site. I support several software products and each one has a separate login and password which would be nice to use 1Password rather than have the browser remember the pass.
Thank you!!Flag 0 -

I'm sorry to say that your attachment didn't make it, or at least I'm not able to see it.
This forum software doesn't have a "paste image" feature that I can find, and it doesn't even have an "attach file" tool in the quick editor. You can click the More Reply Options button to open your reply in the full editor and use the Attach Files area below the text area, or you can upload a file to your favorite hosting service and post a link to it in your reply.Flag 0 -

Thanks! We try, and there are hundreds of your fellow users who are cheerful and eager to help whenever they can.

That's what we're here for! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> You can also write us at support@agilebits.com, which is certainly the appropriate route if you need to share personal information or discuss your account. We're a very small team, though, spread around the world, and we use screen sharing and the telephone for problems that cannot be resolved through these primary channels.
I very adept at learning software but have not been able to "wrap my arms around" 1Password.
The best way to get started is to take a few minutes to read the Introduction, Getting Started, and Tutorials sections of the user's guide. They're short, and they'll give you the information you need to get up to speed quickly. As you use 1Password for Windows, we believe you'll find the FAQ section to be a useful resource, too.
On the bottom of the [details area for a selected Login item] are several fields with options for name, value, type and designation. I don't understand the difference between type and designation...both have a "username" and "password" option.
An item's type is what kind of field it is on the actual login form: a text field or a checkbox, for example. An item's designation is what it represents on the login form: your username or your password, for example.
There's a "password" type because fields coded with that type (in the form's HTML) typically obscure what's typed or pasted there with black dots or asterisks.

First, you definitely want to disable your browser's built-in "save password" and "fill password" features. They'll just interfere with 1Password's operation, they're browser-specific, often less secure, and a source of confusion.
As for using 1Password: how to save your login credentials and use them on subsequent visits to web sites is covered in the Tutorials section of the user's guide; how to create and use stronger passwords is covered in the FAQ section of the user's guide.
I hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions.Flag 0 -

Thanks for the screen shot!
It shows that the login page is coded using Microsoft's ASP, which poses problems for programs like 1Password.
Please try using the nifty "auto-type" feature, described in this article in the FAQ section of the user's guide. Auto-type works with lots of forms that aren't standard HTML...or even displayed in a web browser.Flag 0 -
I am really sorry but I am having a lot of problems figuring this out and i cannot spend any more time on it. Please let me know how I can request a refund for the product. Thank you.Flag 0
