New installation: Can't get past opening screen

I'm brand new to 1Password and installed the latest trial version on OS X Lion. I then decided to buy it from the App Store and performed the following steps:

[*]dragged 1Password application to the trash, including all associated files (agilekeychain, default-datafile.cache, etc.). (The associated files were added by a script to cleanly uninstall software.) The reason I uninstalled the trial version first is that I wanted to get a clean start, without the sample data.

[*]bought 1Password from the App Store.

[*]launched 1Password

[*]selected "I am a new user," then entered a master password and a hint. Clicking "Continue" does nothing -- the app gets stuck at this screen.

[*]uninstalled all browser extensions

[*]tried restarting 1Password -- same result

[*]restored associated files from trash

[*]relaunched 1Password. This time I selected "I have already used 1Password."

[*]selected Users/myname/Library/Application Support/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain as my file. 1Password apparently launches but the main window does not display. Selecting Window --> Main Window does nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

  • I just tried uninstalling the App Store version, using App Trap to remove all associated data. (I want to start from scratch after all, so there should be no trace of a previous installation anywhere.) Then I reinstalled 1Password from the App Store and selected "I am a new user," with the same result, alas.



    console.app consistently reports "Failed to stop 1Password Helper." (I can email the console output if someone at Agile can kindly provide an email address to reach their tech support.)

    I've tried deleting previous version of 1password and all associated files and deleting app store version, then re-downloading and re-installing the app store version. No change, same problem. I have lion on a core2 duo Macbook Pro.
  • Any word from Agile support? I'm afraid I'm at a loss, and there seems to be no other way to contact the company.
