Problem adding logins to folders

I've just recently moved to 1Password 3.9 via MAS. Most, but not all of my logins were imported from a spreadsheet of data a couple of years ago, I think. I never bothered to organize them. They all came in as logins. So there is nothing in my vault but "logins". I am trying to organize them into folders. So I created a folder called Financial, and dragged my banking logins from the right pane list of logins. The items appear to be listed in the folder, but then I started to create another folder, and I just noticed that there's nothing in the financial folder I just created. Any ideas for help?

Thanks.

Kalle

  • Forgot to add that I am using Dropbox...
  • I purchased 1Password from MAS yesterday, and I am having the same problem.
  • I am still having this problem. I've searched folders in this forum and found a bit of stuff that seemed helpful. Something about clearing a cache of some sort, but I couldn't find the Troubleshooting item in the Help Menu on 3.9.

Just a little confused here about how to actually move a login item into a folder I've created. Also, how to delete a folder, as I don't seem to be able to do that either.

Thanks for any help you could give. If I've missed an answer in another thread, could you point me to it?

  • Same thing here on the 3.9 MAS version using Dropbox.

I have folders setup already......and while I can drag a login to a folder. If I close 1Password and reopen.....they aren't in the folders.

Similar thing happened with emptying the trash.

Is this a 3.9 issue with Dropbox? Or a 3.9 issue?

Really can't wait for iCloud at this point.....hoping it's more stable with 3.9 than Dropbox.

I'm terribly sorry for the trouble here, folks. There are some problems with folders in 1Password 3.9. We're working to resolve this in an update. The known issues are:

    1) Items cannot be added to folders

    2) Folders cannot be deleted

I have seen some similar trouble with the trash unable to be emptied. Please take a look at this thread:

  • Thanks Khad for confirming this. I'm not losing any sleep over it ;^) Good luck with the updates and tweaking.

I would just like to add my bit to this thread. I'm having similar problems and, as khad says, I can't add items to folders (they appear to add fine to the folder initially, then vanish from the folder a short while later) and I can't delete folders (again they delete OK to start with, then they just reappear).

I've also noticed a couple of other things:

    1. I can't create subfolders. If I select an existing folder, then do File, New Folder it initially looks like the new folder I am going to create will be a subfolder within the existing folder. But then once I've typed the folder name this new folder jumps back to the main folder list. If I drag the new folder to make it a subfolder, it stays there for a while then jumps back to the root directory again.

    2. A few times while I've been testing creating these new subfolders, 1Password has acted as though I pressed the return button when typing the new folder name. When you create the folder, the folder is named "New Folder" but this is selected for you to edit. You type in the new name, hit return and the folder name is saved. But a couple of times I've had the text "New Folder" selected, but 1Password has very quickly deselected this and named the folder "New Folder" without me actually pressing the return button or having the chance to type in my own folder name.

    3. Any new folders I have created do not appear on the 1Password menu item. Some folders do display in this menu item, but these are folders that I created a while ago, not any of these new folders.

I'm using 1Password 3.9.0 on Lion and I do not use Dropbox.

Do you have an update on when this is going to be fixed?

    Hi there,

Thank you for the input. We are aware of these issues and hope to have them fixed up soon. Some have already been fixed in the 3.8.x beta and we will be pushing those changes out in the next 3.8.x and 3.9.x updates.

    Thank you!

Do you know how much longer we will have to wait for an update to fix these issues? It's been a month now and my logins are starting to get into a bit of a mess without the ability to use folders.

I second this. It's sad that it seems once 1Password hit the MAS, new releases have slowed to a crawl.

We submitted 3.9.1 to the Mac App Store and are waiting for Apple to make it available. It is one of the more impressive changelogs I have seen from AgileBits. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
