Feature Request: Tagging within extension autosave prompts
In a previous version, not too long ago, when a NEW password was being saved, it not only asked for the name or URL, it also provided the convenience of tagging the new password. THis was a great feature, and for some reason it was removed from recent updates. How was it decided that this very useful feature be removed?
Now, whenever I save a new password,

I have to stop what I am doing,

go to 1Password,

find the latest password I saved

and add tags then.
It is a disruption that could be avoided if I could tag and save all at the same time! Has anyone else noticed this?
Can you PLEASE bring back tagging along with new password saves??? 1Password is great, and I really miss this feature.
Thank you!

Zoe,
We absolutely plan to bring back the ability to tag new Logins as they're being saved in the new browser extensions, though I don't have a timeframe for exactly when this will be.
As you may know we had to start over with the new extensions, they're written with brand new code and so there's a few features that we've yet to implement, our initial focus was on core functionality so that we could then move onto adding features.
I love tags too, so for what it's worth you have my vote on this one and we do frequently go through the features we need to add to find the ones that are most wanted by our users, where they're possible to implement of course.Flag 0 -
Well, that is good to hear, so happy that tags are coming down the coding pike.
It must be hard for the coding team..keeping up with browsers updating left and right. (espec Firefox..it seems to update every 2 weeks or so, but that is a good browser!)
I certainly did not mean to complain only to constructively suggest as an avid 1Password user. I look forward to their coming. um..any ETA on this?
Thanks for your reply.Flag 0 -
I asked this back in Sept 2011-->used to be in earlier versions of 1Password, when creating a new Username & PW, you could tag it as well. AND this task was nicely integrated into the browser toolbar. Will this lovely feature ever return??
Now, I must stop what i am doing, go into 1Password and manually tag my info. What is the more recent info on this happening soon?
Thanks!Flag 0 -
Thanks for following up on this, Zoe. I merged your post with the existing thread you created for this. I do apologize if there was any confusion from Stu's reply before. This is definitely on our "nice to have" list, but it is not a critical issue that renders the extension useless, so, as you can tell, it has not received the love we initially wanted to give it.
I can't promise that it will return, but, although the developers are extremely busy working on 1Password 4, I'll make sure to remind them that you would still really appreciate having the ability to tag items from the autosave prompt.
I'm sorry I don't have a better answer at this time. No promises, but the current idea (as I understand it) is to give the extensions some more attention once 1Password 4 is stable enough to allow it.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with in the meantime.Flag 0 -
Hi Khad, Thanks for your reply. I guess we all have our own way of completing tasks. I am really surprised that more people don't miss this feature or want it back. The tags are so useful (for me). I was hoping the already-exisiting-code-that some-smart-person-wrote-way-back-when could be plugged back in. With browser and platform updates, I guess coding is not so modular.
I hope the developers take heed when you pass my request along, thank you for that.
Know, however, I do enjoy this software very much, I find it useful much of the time, and that is why I purchased it and use it! Thanks!Flag 0 -
We really appreciate your kind words and support. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
For myself, I don't create new Logins often enough (or tag every Login). I only use a few tags for specific things, so it does not inconvenience me very much. I certainly understand that everyone uses 1Password (and tags) differently. I believe its flexibility is part of what makes it appeal to so many folks with so many different workflows. It'll be great to see what comes once the developers have a bit more time to focus on the extension again.
I hope you have a wonderful evening!
