Software License App Icons Gone (or not gone, but not there)
Dear AgileBits Support
I recently updated my version of 1Password to the latest available non-beta version (3.8.5). I noticed that some of the preview icons of software licenses were suddenly missing. When clicking on one of the items with a missing icon, the icon was there, however. Not in the list view but in the detailed item view (see attached screenshot).
First I thought there was some 1Password keyfile error. On one computer I hadn't yet updated, the icons were there nice and fine. So I tried to clear the cache, rebuild the data file... Nothing worked. I restored the keyfile from a backup I knew that had the icons. It didn't help. I updated 1Password on the other computer too. And there, I then had the same problem, so it wasn't a keyfile error but more a 1Password version error.
The missing icons only happen in the "Software" area with licenses. See attached screenshot. 1) Shows the missing icon, but 2) you see the icon is there, so why doesn't it show up in the list view, too, as before the update of 1Password. 3) Many other apps lost their icon, too. But when clicking on them, the icons are there.
How can I bring them back? Am I the only one with this problem? I haven't found anything similar in the forums. As this didn't only happen with one computer I'm thinking it's more of a 1Password new version problem than the datafile, as before everything was fine.
Unfortunately I can't tell you which version I had before. I now have the latest non-beta version for Snow Leopard (3.8.5). On my laptop, where the same icons disappeared, I bought and installed the latest version from the MAS, version 3.9. Same result, the same missing icons as on my desktop mac with 3.8.5 installed.
I tried editing and saving an item in order to maybe "refresh" the list entry. But this didn't bring the icon back to the list view.
Any ideas? Thanks
Chris

Hi folks,
Thanks for the report. We may have a bug but will need to gather some more information as I have not been able to reproduce this behavior. The icons for my software are all present and accounted for.
If anyone else is having this problem and can let us know how they upgraded and what versions were involved that may help us track this down.

Hey guys! I am sorry for the trouble. If you use Help > Troubleshooting > Rebuild Data File (in 1Password 3.8 ), does this resolve the issue?
Also, if there is a specific Software item that you know had an icon saved for it previously but is now missing, please select it, click Edit, and see if it shows up in the Edit view. I found one app that I had purchased recently that I thought should have an icon, and editing it and saving it made it come back.
Please let me know what you find. We will continue to look into this problem.Flag 0 -

There is no Help > Troubleshooting > Rebuild Data File for 1Password 3.9. Any other suggestions for us 3.9 users?

Absolutely! Sorry I missed you there. I wasn't expecting to see 3.9 in this forum. Please download our standalone 1Password Troubleshooting tool. We've got you covered! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
Sorry, I just didn't want to start a new thread in the V3.9 forum for the same problem. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_blush.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I reset the permissions and extended attributes, but it did not restore the icons.Flag 0 -

Perhaps if someone from Agile read their own support forums and looked into issues they might have a hint as to at least one class of apps that has this issue.Flag 0 -

No apology necessary, racerx! I am so sorry! I didn't mean it that way at all. Now I am the one with the red face! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
We are looking into it. I am sorry for the inconvenience. We will get to the bottom of this.Flag 0 -
Unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce your problem, bsopslinger. I believe the original post was concerning disappearing icons, and not issues with drag and drop. Have you experienced missing [s]time[/s] icons? <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0

Every PPC app I have is missing its icon. When I went to replace them via drag and drop since that seemed to be the best way none of the icons showed up hence my original post. But I could have just as easily described my problem with this thread's title. But since I realized that many of the problems were with PPC. apps I titled my thread about drag and drop.
So this implies that the reason for the disappearing icons is not related to PPC apps as I had guessed with my post but something else and it just happens mostly with PPC apps on my system but not limited to those apps alone. I do have a few other missing icons also. I just assumed that I had not actually launched those apps. Since drag and drop worked for me and I got those icons back quickly I sort of ignored that error.
Now I know the problem is "some icons get lost" and the fact that I had problems with PPC apps mostly was entirely unique to me. I was hoping that my issue would have helped to find a class of things that failed for you to find but that doesn't seem to be.Flag 0 -
Hello again! Did you try my suggestion above?

I am wondering if the data is there and 1Password somehow 'lost track' of it. Please let me know. It may help us narrow down the cause -- and save you the trouble of dragging all of your app icons back! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0
