Browser login and App login seem to have different passwords

I have been using 1Password for a number of years with no issues. I have the "1P" on my browsers and it prompts me when I first open the browser to put in the master password which always works. Today I launched the app and was prompted to put in the password and it was locked out. I don't recall making any changes so why can't I get into the app?
