Change 1Password Data File Location in Dropbox

I am looking to move the "1password.agilekeychain" file that is created from the Dropbox root directory. I'd like to move it to a sub-folder inside my Dropbox. If I move the file and then double-click it to open 1Password, it does not show the correct path in the application preferences.

I am assuming you are running the MAS version of 1Password.

Currently it is required to be in the root of the Dropbox folder there are a few threads around about ways to move it etc, and require a little more technical knowledge. It is not un doable, however it is an unsupported process.

Currently there are many many folks who are asking for the Dropbox subfolder support. We will add your vote to the list. I cannot guarantee that it will happen but 1P's team has a great track record at listening to it customers. Lets hope they listen now as I am also in the same boat as you needing native subfolder support.

Only if you are using the MAS version :

Make sure you have a backup of your data before attempting this and also by doing it. It is of course at your own risk.
  • Thanks for the tip and explanation. For the time being I'll wait until it is officially supported. Thanks for counting my vote, and hopefully that will happen soon!
