Why doesn't 1Password work as well as it used to?

For some reason, 1Password hasn’t worked very well for the last several months. Every time I try to login to a website using 1P, I have to work through a cascading series of issues before I can finally log in.
Just about every time I open the app, I have to upgrade to a new release. And every time I try to log into a website, the 1P Safari extension pops up and asks for my master password—even when I initiate a login from within 1P itself.
It's one thing to have to enter my master password a second time when 1P is already open. But virtually every time I enter my password in the Safari extension popup, I get an error message telling me there's a "problem with the database." I've tried turning the 1P Safari extension off and then on again, and I’ve tried quitting and reopening Safari, as the “database problem” error message advises. But neither action solves the problem. The only way I’ve found to successfully login to websites is to copy and paste my user-ID and password from 1P into the website’s login fields.
I thought it might be a Snow Leopard problem, so I bit the bullet and upgraded to Lion sooner than I would have otherwise. Then I bit the bullet again and purchased the Lion version of 1P. Didn’t solve the problem. I’m still experiencing all the same issues as before, even though I’m now using the most up-to-date versions of MacOS and 1Password available.
I appreciate that upgrading an app to a new operating system is challenging. For several months I’ve been both understanding and patient. But dropping $50 on upgrading MacOs and 1Password solely to get a version of 1P that works the way it ought to—the way used to—but still doesn’t finally pushed me over the edge.
Until all these problems started, 1Password was the third-party app I most often recommended to friends and clients. I really want 1P to be a great app again, like it used to be. But nowadays I’m telling my people to hold off purchasing 1P until the problems get resolved.
Please fix 1Password. I really don’t want to have to go back to life without it.

I felt the same way. Finally the solution was to go back to an older version of 1P this took some doing as I had to erase the library items as well. I went back to version 3.5.13 and it works 99% of the time. Too bad you changed to Lion-you may be hooped. I'm running roboform everywhere at the same time and will eventually decide which is better. I couldn't manage without one or other of these. In the meantime, no more upgrades for me!Flag 0

Agreed!
Is this the only way to ask why 1password is crap now?
annoys me that these ppl use forums to put the onus back on you to search through forums to find out whats going on.
Prob won't get an answer! Is it up to other users to help out or answer questions?
I've been using 1password for about a year now and when I bought it, it was the best around. Slowly, especially in the last few months, it's now the worst!
As above, I'm virtually upgrading every time I use it.
If I open the program, and double click on a password, it will open that page on Firefox but not enter the password which means I have to go back and forth, copying and pasting.
If I'm in the browser and press the 1P button, I have to log in again even if the program is open. BTW, I changed my master password in the !password program bust still have to use the old password from the browser! (so much for ONE password) Often the login will not accept the 1password login and I have to go through the issue new password process again.
Another thing changed is the identity. I now have 1 button on the right end of the url toolbar with no effect when entering the ID. It just closes! Nothing gets entered.
Am I going to have to go through the process of finding another password program and the rigmarole that entails in entering all my stored passwords?
Using Snow Leopard, not Lion! God knows what'll happen if I go to Lion???Flag 0 -

This worked for me.
. Backup Data file (1P file menu)
Move applications 1Password to trash
Trash user/library/application support/1password
Trash user/library/launchagents/ws.agile.1passwordagent.plist
Download and install 1P version 3.5.13

It's pretty much a bunch of companies working hard to get around recent browser changes. If you look around the
primary issues on these boards have to do with the browser extension.
What's changed recently how most of the big browsers handle plugins/extensions. Now the browsers are separating
tabs into threads and changing the architecture for additional security.
This is totally caused a pain for developers. I've had to wait for a long time to get Evernote clipping back into Safair but
thankfully the new clipper is superior to their old one. The old ways have been jettisoned in many apps and that has
caused some differences and glitches in how the browser interacts with the plugin/extension.
Whatever problems exist today I'm sure that Agile and other vendors are working on stability and features but right now I'd
hesitate to blame Agile. Evernote has a much larger developer group and they to struggled with the changes in Chrome, FF and
Safari. So I know this isn't just an Agile issue and it's food for thought for those looking to jump ship...the spot you land will probably
be feeling the same fire if browsers are concerned.Flag 0 -
The story would have been way different if 1password sent an email to customers explaining the situation. The slowness/freeze issues after the upgrade is really irritating.Flag 0

Here we go again. I get no pop-up when I log into a new site. I must open a new login on 1P, copy the login URL into the new slot, then copy the new password. Guys, ya gotta do bettah, it's getting to be a real PITAFlag 0

Trashing the folder library/application support/1Password probably deleted the backup. Can you restore it with time machine.Flag 0 -
I'd like my money back. It doesn't work at all for me any more.Flag 0
