1Password 3.9 doesn't work with Google accounts in Safari

If a Google page (google.com, Google News, etc.) is loaded in Safari (latest on OS X 10.7) and the 1Password Safari extension is used, nothing happens. The extension does recognize the login for the page (accounts.google.com), but clicking it does nothing.

The Gmail login does work with 1Password, however.

  • I'm afraid there's something wrong with your extension then because it is working just fine here.

    Try this:

remove the extension

quit safari

use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions

install extension
In addition, it is possible that the logins you have saved were saved before Google updated their login page. If that is the case, you may have to resave them:

Please try saving the login manually like this:

    1. Enter your username and password, but DO NOT submit the form.

    2. Click the 1Password button in your browser's toolbar, and select the "+" button in the upper right hand corner.

    3. Change the title and make any notes (if desired).

    4. Click the Save button in the upper right hand corner.
  • Ben,

Thanks for your replies. I discovered what's wrong: The actual Google login boxes for username and password must actually be displayed for 1Password to work.

1Password does actually recognize Google pages that don't display the login. For instance, if you're logged out of Google and go to google.com, there's a "Sign in" link in the upper right. 1Password will show its stored Google info under "Logins for this page." Clicking accounts.google.com in 1Password then does nothing.

However, if you first click "Sign in" and THEN revisit the 1Password Safari extension, it works fine because the login boxes are displayed on the page.

Is there a way to get 1Password to jump to Google's sign in page, without making the user click "Sign in" first? It does recognize Google pages but seems to have nothing to do if there's no sign in form displayed.
