1Password is nice, but not sufficiently useful (refund request) [Answered]

I'm sadly unimpressed with 1Password on both the Mac and iPad. I bought them partly on the basis of reviews, and partly because I had some dissatisfactions with my existing password management system (LastPass). I also prefer to pay for software, and LastPass is essentially free (there is a paid option but it offers little over the free one).

Frankly 1Password on both platforms is nice-looking, but the functionality deficit compared to LastPass is too big a drop, especially at 1Password's relatively high price (even at the MAS discount).

I'd possibly hang around if I thought that the basic necessary functions for password management and use were in the offing, but looking back over AgileBits' blog entries suggests to me that form is a higher priority than function. That might be an unfair judgement based on my quick scan. But it does at least seem clear that at current rates of development, 1Password is years away from catching up with LastPass.

I write all this with some reluctance, because I really like nicely-designed software, and am very happy paying for it. But I can't see myself making the compromises that would be necessary to use 1Password. So it's back to LastPass.

So for now I'll make good on AgileBits' money-back guarantee and ask for a refund on my two AppStore purchases (mac and iPad versions). How do I go about this?

[s]I suspect emailing Agilebits at support@agilebits.com is the best option. Although I believe they're struggling to keep up with email at the moment.[/s] Looks like people are being refunded without needing to email. Probably just wait for bwoodruff to arrive.

I've never used LastPass, could you explain what exactly 1Password is missing. I've always loved using 1Password, but I'd like to know what to pester them for.

    Hi there Cris,

I'm sorry if this was unclear, but we can only refund purchases that were made from us. Purchases made from Apple need to be refunded by Apple. Did you make a purchase from us, or were all of your purchases from Apple?

    Thanks.

    Ben

P.S. I'm sorry but this is not the place to discuss the competition. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Please refrain from that as much as possible.

All purchases were through the App Store. I'll chase it up with them, thanks.

Thanks for the clarification Cris. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. If there is anything we can help with, feel free to write back to us either here on the forums or to support@agilebits.com
