Cut it Out
I wanted to use the Trashcan to store old Wallet items, such as closed Bank/Savings accounts, destroyed credit cards etc. in case I need the details in the future.
To avoid cluttering these records with old ones that I don't want to keep, I used "Cut" from the context menu on the titles of the unwanted items in Shelf view. Although they were removed, a few seconds later they reappeared. Is this a bug or, if not, what's the point of "Cut"?

I'm not sure if this is working as designed or not, but I will mention it to the developers. I can see a case for being a bit more protective of 1Password data than, say, a sentence from a text file, but I will see if I can find out if this is a bug or a feature. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';-)' />Flag 0

Thanks Khad.
Perhaps what I really need is an area to store old records that are no longer "live" (and therefore don't appear in the main lists) that I nevertheless want to keep. That would leave the Trash to be used as intended, rather than a storage for old records.
A Feature Request perhaps?Flag 0 -

Maybe in 4.0 ??? PLEASE.. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />Flag 0 -
As far as I understand, this is working as designed in order that no item is "orphaned" or essentially deleted (by cutting and then quitting) without explicit instructions from the user to delete the item. Cutting, forgetting, and quitting is too destructive to implement in that way. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_worried.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':S' />Flag 0

1. In some cases it may be much simpler to cut an item from one folder and then paste it into another rather than drag and drag and drag through a long list before dropping it.
2. Cutting/copying an item to the clipboard technically places its JSON data in the clipboard. This is mostly just useful for us, but you can paste it into TextEdit to see it yourself. Please keep in mind that this is the unencrypted data, so treat it as carefully as you would your password in the clipboard.
That said, I don't know that I have personally ever cut an item in 1Password except in the course of testing. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0
