Drive disappeared

Hi, I am having a hard time because there is essentially no documentation. I was trying to remove the knox security from one internal drive. Somehow it un-mounted the drive and now the computer cannot see it.

1. How do I get it back up

2. Is there any way to leave it unlocked

3. How do I remove the Knox security without wiping clean my drive. I have a lot of data on this drive

thanks, stephen

Hi Stephen, welcome to the forums!

Did you do a full disk encryption on the internal drive with Knox in the past? Also, please tell us how you were attempting to remove the encryption before it unmounted.

    1. Open Disk Utility.app from your Applications > Utilities folder and see if you can press "Mount" on the grayed out drive or the dismounted drive you mentioned. That should mount the drive back up, if not, let us know the error message.

    2. Do you mean keeping it open all the time without entering password? You can do this by configuring the settings in Knox to do this. Open Knox, go to its Preferences > General and enable two settings: "Start on Login" and "Keep open vaults open after a restart":

    3. You can't remove the encryption on the drive without losing the data. You'll need to transfer the data to an unencrypted drive before you can remove the drive encryption.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
