Safari "Problem with Database" error message

Every day I try to unlock the database via the 1P icon through Safari, I get a "Problem with Database" message that can only be fixed if I re-install the 1Password extension. This happens on multiple Macs -- 2 macbook pros, 1 Mac Pro, and an iMac to name 4. Is there a fix to this? It doesn't seem to matter what version 1Password I'm using. I've seen this problem since Lion's release.

  • I'm still having this issue too.

Why on earth has this STILL not been fixed!?

MacBook Pro + Mac Pro, using 10.7 to 10.7.2 and using beta releases.

    Can someone please answer this....
  • Same here…

And why does this error message say 'please restart Safari with Cmd-Option-Q' - it is Cmd-Q (no Option [alt] involved).

I've been having the same issue... under both Snow Leopard and Lion. Using Safari 5.1.1 & 1Password 3.8.10.... as well as the prior version. No insight... just letting you know you're not alone.

The 'Problem with Database' error tends to occur when closing Safari while Private Browsing is enabled. This is a bug in Safari, and we have notified Apple about the bug. Hopefully, Apple will fix it as soon as possible.

As a workaround, you can prevent this error by disabling Private Browsing before closing Safari. As long as you do that, 1Password will work correctly the next time you open Safari.

If you are still having trouble after that...

...in Snow Leopard: Simply Restart Safari once more. This is the same as closing Safari without the Private Browsing mode enabled, but please ensure that it is disabled first just for good measure. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

...in Lion: Use the Command-Option-Q keyboard shortcut in Safari to "Quit and Discard Windows". You can also hold down the Option key while selecting "Quit and Discard Windows" from the Safari application menu. This is a new command in Lion related to Lion's application resume feature.
