2 Versions of 1 Password since upgrading to App Store Version

I am a long time user of 1 password and chose to update to the latest version through the app store.
Now I have 2 applications in my launchpad and 2 in my app folder and they seem to be confused. How do I remove the oldest one? Im afraid to run the uninstaller and remove the wrong one since I use dropbox. There is no easy way to tell, that I am aware of, to find the right version to delete from the app folder. The dates in the finder window for last open and created are recent and not a useful tool.
Also, the new version puts an icon in the menu bar but when it launches it actually runs the older version 3.8! help! Thanks!

The copy of 1Password that exists at /Applications/1Password.app (vs /Applications/1Password/1Password.app) is the old one and is safe to delete. Of course, as always, we recommend making a good backup first.

Hi, thank you, you are correct, I did not follow the direction as I just installed directly and didn't think to look elsewhere. I assumed it would all happen automatically. I deleted the one you mentioned but now the menu bar icon doesn't open the app. The browser extensions still work, or seem too. I'm doing something so I can't reboot to see if menu bar icon will work afterwards. I'll update you tomorrow, thanks!Flag 0 -

Thanks for the update agillmeier. Unfortunately the menu bar "Helper" item not linking to the correct installation of 1Password is a known bug which we hope to have fixed in the next update.Flag 0 -

I have a question, Ben. I completely removed V3.8 (as recommended) prior to installing the 3.9 MAS version and it did install itself to /Applications/1Password.app.
Do you mean to say that only f the MAS 3.9 version is installed with the old 1Password.app still in place it will install to an alternate location?Flag 0 -

I've heard mixed results with this. One thing I have never heard of though is MAS overwriting the /Applications/1Password.app. If that file exists, it seems it always makes a folder to stuff the new version in. I have also heard of it doing that regardless, though, and that was my experience on my own system (folder created even though 1Password was not installed).Flag 0 -
