Bug in 1Password Browser Extension/Plugin (repeatable)

Here's an interesting bug.

I have installed version 3.8.5 build 31141 - i've installed the Safari extension AND the firefox plugin. Yesterday i started out with 44 logins in my 1Password account. I had edited that down from 155. When i checked the Safari extension it still showed the 155 which then updated my 1Password database again.

The solution was to remove the extension, revert back to a saved database and then reinstall the extension.

Unfortunately i forgot about Firefox, opening up Firefox immediately reinstalled the 155 login's back into my 1Password. The solution is to remove the extension, replace the 1Password db and then reinstall the extension.

(I'm also running OSX Lion).

Hopefully someone can take a look at this issue.

Thanks,

Peter

  • Hey there, Peter! Thank you for bringing this up. This is actually a known issue that we have tried to workaround in our latest updates, but in the case of Firefox, it simply doesn't remove the database. Hopefully, this will be possible in the future, but in the mean time please try uninstalling the extension (Firefox Tools > Add-ons > Extensions > 1Password > Remove) and then go to "~Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/" using Finder and drag "OnePassword.sqlite" to the Trash before reinstalling the extension (1Password menu > Install Browser Extensions).

I hope this helps. Please let me know how it turns out. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
  • Brent,

Thanks for the info. I have had a bunch of stuff in my trash that I have been holding off on deleting until the fix came through an update. I knew that it had something to do with the browser extensions, but wasn't sure it was that easy.

Is the Firefox extension the only one that has this issue, or is it with all of them?

It is definitely an issue with all of them in a sense, although it is actually a result of Agent/Helper communication issues. The Firefox extension just ends up being the worst offender though in a sense because Firefox does not remove the database along with the extension. We are on the case. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
