Where can I find generated passwords?

Hay,

My bank account was just blocked by filling out the wrong password three times in a row. I was prompted to change my password, which I did using the strong password generator. When I hit "fill", this strong password was entered in the "type new password" and "repeat new password" line. However there was no prompt to update my existing account. In older versions you were able to find the last generated password and fill this out yourself, but I cannot find it anymore.

Can anybody explain what happened and better: What to do to prevent this next time?

I have the same question and issue. For some logins (e.g., secure-loancenter.com), 1Password does not prompt to save the password. Since there is no option for viewing the last generated password, my password was lost and I had to perform a password reset with the site. I would like to see t his feature returned.

Please click the "View password history" button in the Password Generator section of the extension. From there you can click on any previously generated password and fill it. I wasn't able to get a website to load at http://secure-loancenter.com/ but we would love to know the URLs where autosave is not working for you.

You can also access all of your Generated Passwords in the main application as well (1Password > Preferences > General > Display in Sidebar > Generated Passwords).

    Cheers,
  • I am using 1Password 3.8.6 and recently generated a password (I think I did it via the Safari Extension) and it didn't save it to the login info. I've looked both at the plug-in level and in the main apps password history and the extension shows no history and the App doesn't have it either. Is there somewhere else I can look for this info?

Welcome to the forums, maraud. I merged your post with this existing thread. Please see above and let me know if you have any additional questions! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
  • Hi, I've done this and the passwords don't display. None of my recent password generations are there. I also checked via the plug-in and that's blank. I've generated numerous passwords recently and the last one listed is from Aug 2 2011. Is there a problem that PW's generated via the plug-in don't "feed back" to the main app?

    Thanks
  • Hey there, maraud! I am sorry you are having this problem.

It sounds like something is preventing the 1PasswordAgent from sync'ing the data between 1Password and the extension. If you are running security or firewall software, you may need to make an exception for it. Please try Help > Troubleshooting > Restart Agent/Helper.

if you are still having trouble, could you please tell me what OS, browser, 1Password, and extension versions you are using? Please let me know. I look forward to hearing back from you. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I am using Mac OS X 10.6.8 with 1Password 3.8.6 and the Safari plug-in 3.8.5. However I think I've figured out the problem. I copied the PW out instead of using Fill in the agent. When you Copy for the main app it saves it, but unless I click fill on the plug in it doesn't save. I have confirmed it is communicating back. Any chance that the agent saves this data anywhere?

That's exactly right. The "view password history" area of the password generator in the browser extension displays the saved generated passwords for the current site. However, a generated password is not saved unless you use the extension to fill the password for you. If a password were saved as soon as it's generated, instead of when it's actually used, there would be the potential for thousands of useless items in 1Password. This would greatly diminish the usefulness of the Generated Password safety net.
