Importing serial numbers of macupdate purchases
Hi all,
Macupdate offers the possibility to import the serial number of purchases directly into 1Password.
The result is a PIF file, but when importing it, nothing appears in the database.

Any idea what the problem could be?

I have imported several licenses and keys from MacUpdate into 1Password. We *think* that the problem is specific to this particular item and that it has to do with the way the 1pif was created. Can you tell us if you've experienced this just with this one thing or with all of the licenses you've tried to import from MacUpdate? (If you have others, that is.)
Anyway, to get this sorted out for you… The reason we think it's limited to this item is that we opened the 1pif you sent in a plain text editor (like TextMate), copied everything and pasted it into a new text file, then saved that as a .1pif. We were then able to import that .1pif into 1Password. Please give it a try and let us know how it goes.Flag 0 -
Hey Nik!
Wow this worked indeed! Thanks a lot!
It actually happens with all 1pifs from MacUpdate. Maybe they have some formatting that isn't compatible.
Anyway, I'll just copy and paste the 1pif into a new file <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Best,

Ahh, Stevie! That may very well be. Text encoding can be such a pain, especially when all the 'links in the chain' don't support the same formats. I have run into this in the past. Maybe you can change your name on MacUpdate to replace the umlaut character with something less...exotic (I know, I know -- blasphemy!) You should have to do this, but if it will save you the trouble of 'fixing' these manually in the future it might be worth the sacrifice. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />Flag 0

Hi,
I'm a new user to 1Password and I also have this problem with a .1pif file I got from Macupdate. I tried to copy the contents of the .1pif file I downloaded into a new text files, renamed it to a .1pif extension and tried to import it. What I got was a message saying "You have imported 0 new logins". I have looked and know there are serial numbers in the file.
I don't have any exotic characters in my name. Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem?
Thanks!Flag 0 -
Welcome to the forums, christiantao! Thanks for taking the time to contact us. I'm sorry that you are having this problem.
Can you please the 1PIF file to us at support AT agilebits.com? Feel free to change a couple numbers/letters in the actual license keys.
Please also include a link to this thread in your email so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your message in our inbox.
