Thinking to stop using 1password
hi, i was one of the biggest fan of 1Password products, but today i tried sticky password and i am really very impressed. I am now thinking to stop using 1Password and use sticky password. Here is my feedback using both
Sticky password is good at:
1. 1password have almost zero induction of new features
2. 1password only support AES 128 bit but sticky password provide 8 types of encryption including AES 256 bit
3. 1password does not support windows application but sticky password is really very good and auto log-in of windows application
4. 1password does not have any virtual keyboard but sticky password does have really beautiful virtual keyboard to secure key strokes
5. 1password only support Firefox and chrome but sticky password support almost all browsers including opera
6. 1password only support password protected database while Sticky password also provide USB, Bluetooth authorization ( we can use USB as a password or any Bluetooth device like mobile to open database, there is no need to entry password just connect your mobile and you are ready to use sticky password)

aaftab, I hate to sound defensive, but:
1. There have been too many new features to count them all. A visit to our "release history" page might be informative. There's a link in the "sticky" post at the top of this forum.
2. There has been so much discussion of 128-bit vs. 256-bit encryption that I can hardly believe it's necessary to repeat: Earth has not existed long enough for all the computers that exist to have decrypted your master password yet. If they started now, they almost certainly wouldn't have decrypted before you and your children and...well, you get the picture.
3. Have you tried the "auto-type" feature? Users have come up with two or three sites that "auto-type" seems unable to fill.
4. Click the little "..." button when you launch the 1Password program or unlock the extensions for Internet Explorer and Firefox. (The extension for Chrome comes from a group that traditionally has focused on development for our Mac products, and they are admittedly a little less paranoid about key loggers than we Windows users. We hope to see a virtual keyboard in the Chrome extension, eventually.)
5. You forgot Internet Explorer, the inclusion of which means we cover something like 95% of the browser market.
6. I'm not sure I understand your point, so you may have us, on this one.
I don't expect these facts to change your mind, and you must choose the tool that works best for you. We think dependable, secure, automatic sync'ing with 1Password on all your PCs, Macs, and iOS and Android devices is a pretty big selling point.
I think setting the facts straight on 5 of your 6 issues is worthwhile, too.
Thanks for your post!Flag 0 -
Have to say, I tried Sticky Password and it's really quite good! Few thing still missing like 1password anywhere feature, better iPhone synch options(dropbox like 1password) and few other things. But for me personally biggest plus for sticky password is Opera extension that works well! It's really shame that 1password still doesn't have Opera extension, because otherwise I wouldn't even been thinking to switch.
Sticky Password
LastPass
RoboForm
they all have Opera extension!

1. Actually I do take a look at release history, but I wouldn't call that "too many" <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_bigsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-D' /> It's mainly bug fixes and extension fixes "Firefox 7 support" etc.. The development is king of slow I must say, maybe because on 1password for Windows works just Stefan and not the whole team like on Mac version?
3. Not quite what aaftab had on mind. You would have to try to understand the difference..
5. Not that IE argument again. Who is using IE? Mostly companies stuck on IE6 and users that don't know better, none of those are potencial customers.
6. You could actually take a look at what you are commenting, there is no way you wouldn't understand his point then..Flag 0 -
Cimpr, saying "Not that IE argument again. Who is using IE?" is like saying "Not that Windows argument again. Who is using Windows?"
The answer to both questions <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> is A large majority of Windows users. The reason we offer support for Firefox and Chrome is that a large number of Windows users use those browsers, too. Other browsers simply don't reflect a large enough portion of Windows users to warrant our diverting Windows resources at this time to developing and supporting extensions.
Speaking of resource allocation, our development and support resources are divided among the various platforms in a way that we believe accurately reflects our customer base, and every member of every team is focused on making 1Password the best it can be. I guess progress, too, is in the eye of the beholder.
Finally, despite your implication that I didn't "take a look at what I was commenting," I did...and I really didn't understand most of #6:

"we can use USB as a password..."
USB is a specification for cables, connectors, and communications protocols. Trying to figure out how that could be a password affected my view of what followed.

"...or any Bluetooth device like mobile to open database"
Separating this from the first part of the phrase, I think I understand what's being asked for.
That said, do I really want the guy who steals my laptop AND my phone to have instant access to all my personal data? Definitely not; otherwise, I might as well not even bother encrypting my data.
