Growl Notifications in 1Password (Mac App Store)

Are Growl notifications on by default in the MAS version of 1Password? I don't see a preference for turning them on. I switched to the MAS version of Growl 1.3 and no longer receive notifications. At this point I can't remember if notifications ever occurred with the MAS version of 1Password or if they stopped after the update to Growl 1.3.

fargilan, I think it was the 1.3 Growl update that did it. I have many applications that worked with Growl prior to 1.3 but have stopped displaying notifications since the update. I also have some applications whose notifications appear in Growl's notification history, but don't actually display the notification on my screen, which is a bit odd. It looks like we may need to update 1Password to work with the new version. We hope to have that resolved soon.Flag 0

I'm noticing that Growl 1.3 has caused a lot of problems with existing growl notifications. I'm thinking I'm going to wait until existing apps catch up before upgrading to Growl 1.3.Flag 0

Nope...can't blame this one on Growl 1.3
1P notifications stopped working with the MAS version. I was running 1.2.2 Growl and was getting notifications with 1P 3.8.4 and when I went to 3.9 the notifications stopped.
I'm now running Growl 1.3 and 1P 3.9 and the notifications are still busticated.
I had assumed this was by design in 1P 3.9 because there is no longer a preference option to toggle notifications on and off. Soooo, if they did work, folks would be bitching about how they couldn't turn them off. Also, since the backup process occurs within the sandboxed container, i thought that might have caused some issues which is why the feature was removed.
That said, I'd love to see the feature come back because there's really no way to know when and if backups are occurring properly without digging through the sandbox container...which is kind of a pain.
On a somewhat related note...Growl 1.3 is an awesome improvement and most of the folks that are complaining didn't remove Growl 1.2.2 before installing the MAS 1.3 version. Run the Growl 1.2.2 uninstaller and be sure to delete the .plist files in the preferences folder and you should be up and growling in no time...again...a great improvement...very iOS 5 like.Flag 0 -
I'll double check with the devs on this. I don't normally use Growl (since I have enough things blinking and popping up on my Mac without it), but I know it is very handy for some folks. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
I suppose it is possible that Growl notifications were removed in the MAS version due to some sandboxing, but I cannot say for certain before investigating a bit more.
UPDATE: Confirmed. Growl notifications were removed from the MAS version for sandboxing reasons. It is possible that we may be able to add them back in the future, but my impression is that the devs tried to make the exception list smaller rather than larger in the first release.
I let them know that some folks would love to see the return of Growl notifications in the future!Flag 0
