Backups - MAS and previous 3.8.5

I have 1Password 3.9 installed and followed the installation instructions from upgrading from 3.8.5
I previously had 1Password installed and had changed the backup frequency to weekly and keep a maximum of 10 versions in a directory of my choosing on the local hard drive.
I have now installed the MAS version which has been running for several weeks.
I now have noticed that 1Password is performing daily backups to a folder in the users librarys/containers/..... etc. location. There are currently 21 backups here.
However, the original location I had specified on the previous version is still receiving backups on a weekly basis and maintaing the last 10 weekly backups. There has been 5 weekly backups performed since the 1st daily backup in the new location.
Why ?
What happens if I delete my weekly backups folders that shouldn't be used now ?
Why I am getting daily backups ? Can I change the schedule ? I do not need daily backups on several devices all of 30MB each.

Hey coachdriver,
I'm sorry that you are having this trouble. I think I know what may be going on inside your machine. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
The 1PasswordAgent background process is what handles the automatic backups. I'm quite certain that the old agent from 3.8.x is still running on your machine. We added some code to help with the transition from 3.8.x to 3.9.x but it is only available in 3.8.6 and later. So if you weren't running the latest version of 1Password 3.8 when you upgraded to 3.9 but went straight from 3.8.5 to 3.9, the old agent will still be running alongside the new one.
To resolve this, please first quit 1Password, then:
1. Download the latest version of 1Password 3.8.x from our website
2. Launch the copy of 1Password 3.8.x you just downloaded
3. Quit 1Password 3.8.x
4. Move 1Password 3.8.x to the trash
5. Launch your copy of 1Password 3.9.x
Running 1Password 3.8.6 or later will load the code that 3.9.x can detect and unload properly. Now only the current background process for 3.9 will be running.
You can double-check for yourself by opening Activity Monitor (found in /Applications/Utilities) and searching for 1Password. The old 3.8.x process is called 1PasswordAgent. The new 3.9.x process is called 1Password Helper. They should not both be running. If you are using 1Password 3.9.x, only 1Password Helper should be running.
You can delete the old backups if you are satisfied with the current ones you have in the Containers folder. The current background process should honor your current settings.
Please let me know how it turns out.

Gilles,
From what I remember in passing this is no longer a user selectable option, I can't recall the number of backups it keeps. Again this was in passing so.... I am not 100% on this. But I also do not have an option to change the backups etc.
PS from what I remember I believe it is 10, I remember something about a weeks worth of backups etc, The location of the backups is also no longer selectable.Flag 0 -
Ok, so I've now gone to a 3rd machine and this was different.
On this machine I had a 2.* version of 1Password installed and then installed 3.9 from the MAS.
Despite downloading 3.8.9 and following the same instructions the 1Password Agent remains.
Any ideas ?Flag 0 -
Blast from the past! <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
Please try running this command in Terminal (located in /Applications/Utilities/):
launchctl unload ~/Library/LaunchAgents/ws.agile.1PasswordAgent.plist
Then restart your Mac.
[i]Re: Backups, "1Password [3.9.x] creates a daily backup of your information in the ~/Library/Containers/com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/ directory. Up to 30 backups are kept at a time. This is not currently a user-configurable option."
