1Click bookmarks not saving website favicons

1click bookmarks are not saving the associated website's favicons. All regular (non-1click) bookmarks save the website's favicon with the bookmark. Anyone else seeing, or should I say, not seeing this?

Lion 10.7.2

Safari 5.1.1

    Hey Dinga,

This appears to be an issue with Safari. Safari is looking for the favicon based on the URL, but it appears that the "?onepasswdfill=[UUID]" query string that 1Password needs in order to know it is supposed to invoke Go & Fill for that URL trips up Safari.

Since http://example.com/?...501F97683A70F33 doesn't actually exist on the server, I'm guessing Safari's request for a favicon just gives up rather than stripping off the query string in an attempt to find a favicon.

This is similar for JavaScript-based bookmarklets (like Instapaper's "Read Later", Readability, etc.). No favicon is provided for JavaScript-based bookmarklets either.

You might consider filing a Safari bug. I'm sorry that I don't have a better answer, but I hope that at least helps you understand why this is happening.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

    Cheers,
  • This is quite disappointing.

It would be nice if Safari handled this more gracefully, but they may have their reasons for doing it the way they are. Offhand I cannot see why, but it is possible there is a purpose.
  • Disappointing indeed but as it seems not AgileBits fault. Hm, here's hope this will be possible one day.
