Purchase 1Password as a gift

Page52
edited November 2011 in 1Password 3 for Mac
I want to purchase 1Password 3.9 as a Christmas gift but cannot figure out how. I know I could just wait until Christmas and then tell them to go to the App store on their Mac and use my credit card. But I would like to do it now so I can get the current half-off price.

Is this possible? And if so, how?

    Welcome to the forums, Page!

You can purchase a gift license from our online store:

    https://agilebits.com/store

Just be sure to check the box to indicate that "This is a gift."

We don't offer a way to time delay the sending of the gift license email, though, so if you want it sent to the recipient on Christmas, you will need to place the order on Christmas. The email will be sent immediately. Perhaps you might order it just before you get together that day. The sale will be over, though, at that time, so I am sending you a private message with some special instructions. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

If we can be of further assistance, please let us know. We are always here to help!

I believe Page52 is wanting to purchase the Mac App Store version (3.9) as a gift. (not 3.8 from the Agile store) -- I am not aware of a way to do this.

    You may want to re-read the original post. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Page52 and I had a private conversation about the matter and how to best handle it. If there is anything I can help you with, Carl, please let me know.

So there is a way to gift a purchase in the Mac App Store? Just curious for my own knowledge.

Unfortunately, since the iTunes and Mac App Stores are separate entities controlled by Apple, we can't control how applications are sold there. If we could offer upgrades or bundles or discounts, we'd love to explore those options, but sadly, we can't do that at this time.

As for gift licenses, while it is possible to use the "Gift This App" feature in the iTunes App Store, that feature is not presently available in the Mac App Store. An Apple gift card will work but will obviously not be restricted to a single app. Gift cards are redeemable for anything in the App Stores.
