Hi,

what is this executable for (must have come with an update lately). Why does it have an autostart entry?

Please explain such things e.g. in release notes and/or this forum. I like to know what's going on on my computer. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Thank you very much.

  • The 1Password agent (a.k.a. helper) facilitates operation of the new extension for Safari and will play a similar role in most of the extensions to be released in future versions of 1Password.
  • Something just doesn't sit right with me and this new "helper".

For starters, it sits there in the background using ~13mb of memory, even when it's not needed. And it doesn't "help" very well.

I really really dislike the direction 1Password is going, this and the new Chrome extension that barely works is making me look at the other options out there.

We *must* go this direction because Apple and Google are locking down their web browsers. Inside this sandbox, we cannot accomplish what we used to do. When you run 1Password in Safari or Chrome, we need the 1Password helper. Pretty soon we'll need it for Firefox, too.
