"No saved logins" on country code top-level domains (ccTLD)

Nirix
edited December 2011 in Windows
It doesn't work properly.

It says I have no saved logins for any site, but looking in the list for them, there they are clear as day, so I login to the site, and get asked to save the login? pretty annoying.

The new bar is hideous, the popup box was much, much better.

Edit 1: I'm starting to really hate the new Chrome extension after using it for a few hours.

Edit 2: I've gotten used to using, or am almost used to using the new extension, it's not so bad after a while.

Comments

  • I have no idea where to begin for this.

My Chrome updated to version 16, so I thought maybe I should update 1Password to make sure the browser addon is updated also.

I updated 1Password and it did nothing to update my Chrome extension, I had to remove the extension then reinstall it, this is where the fun begins.

The new UI for it is a little weird compared to the old one, the new "save login bar" isn't easy on the eyes. The white font is barely readable and the "never for this site" button doesn't look any better.

I also hate the fact that it slides down over the page, slowly, and does so until dismissed. I preferred the popup box, not because it was better looking but because it had more options.

Whenever I go to a site and click on the 1Password button it tells me there are no saved logins for the site, which is bollocks because doing a search inside the extension found them.

But to make things worse, it asks me to save my login after logging in even though its already saved, really?

Whats with the new extension being so buggy?

I'm going to give you the truth here, I hate the new chrome extension and think it absolutely stinks and should be reverted back to the old one.

  • We cannot simply "revert" to the old, because the old version doesn't work properly with Chrome 16.

Our designers are responsible for the look and feel of the new extensions for Safari and Chrome, and they'll see your comments here.

Thanks for sharing your reactions with us. I, too, hope they'll be taken to heart by the people who can effect change.

You make some valid points and we are working on trying to find a better solution. For example, in Firefox and Safari better options are available to us and I prefer the Autosave feature in those browsers. The Chrome team made some decisions in their API that required us to use an iframe for the Autosave bar and it's been tricky to make it work perfectly.

With that said, I have some ideas to make it not obscure the current page, and we can tweak the UI if need be as well.

Can you share the URL with us? We made some changes to have domain matching works to be more specific. I suspect the saved login's domain is different.

This sounds like a bug as you shouldn't be being asked to re-save Logins. Perhaps the domain is different as discussed above? If not, when you're prompted to save, is 1Password locked or unlocked?

Just to add to what has already been said:

Some users find that 1Password occasionally offers to save a Login for a site even if they have already created one. Most often, this is a result of the password manager being enabled in your browser.

We have always recommended disabling your browser’s password manager feature for user names and passwords — though you can still keep it enabled for other forms in Chrome — because it makes things both less confusing (“I thought I already saved that!”) and more secure (for more information on the security implications, try googling for ”browser password manager security”).

That said, we are still working to see if the two can coexist more peacefully. Presently, if your browser’s password manager is enabled and fills a Login before 1Password, you’ll be prompted to save the Login in 1Password even if you have already done so.

Until we find a better solution, please disable your browser’s password management features in order to resolve the issue, simplify your browser experience, and make your life simpler.

What URL are you seeing this with? What URL is stored inside your 1Password Data?

This has been fixed in 1.0.9.247

In addition to updating to 1.0.9.247, I'm afraid you'll have to remove (and then re-install) our Chrome extension:

    1. launch Google Chrome

    2. click the "wrench" icon in the upper-right corner

    3. click: Tools > Extensions

    4. find the 1Password extension, then click: "remove"

Can you please update to 1.0.9.247, follow these steps, and confirm the fix? Thanks!
  • Hi folks.

I can confirm that 1Password is no longer asking to save an already saved login now, so at least that works for me.

How ever, the initial problem in this thread, "No saved logins" persists. Previously I had one login working for several sub-sites related to my university (www.liu.se).

All these sub-sites no longer recognize my single saved login for any of my liu-sites. I have a single login item with its URL set to only "liu.se" which matched all my xxx.liu.se- and yyy.zzz.liu.se-subsites previously.

This no longer seems to match.

If I save a new login item for any of the subsites, that particular login works with that particular site, but still none of the others.

If I start filling up the domain matching-feature with a new entry, with all other sites mentioned in there as matched sites, the Chrome-plugin still won't recognize my other sites as being able to use one specific (shared) login item.

My impression is that there's either something wrong with the domain matching feature or a bug with how domain names are matched even without the domain matching feature.

I'd love to share what help I can to aid in this matter, as I would very much appreciate not being forced to save 10 logins with the same credentials for different (sub-)sites.

I'm not comfortable sharing the specific site URLs here, but if they're needed for troubleshooting, PM me or something and I'll send the URLs in a less public manner.

    Thanks in advance!

Can you please provide me with

    1) the complete URL in your web browser

    2) the complete URL of your login item in 1Password

I'm afraid "domain matching" is not supported by our new extension for Chrome (yet).

I believe this is a result of the ccTLD issue outlined here:

Yes, this very much seems to correlate to the issues I'm having.

I'm very much looking forward to the progression of this other forum thread. Thanks for the heads-up, khad!

I will await the results from this other forum thread. If this turns out to solve my problems when/if it comes (back), my posts can be ignored. If it should not, I will then contact you with the details asked for.

    Thanks again, so far.

No problem. We are all excited about future improvements in this and other areas. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I don't have a time frame, but this is something we are working to resolve.
