OSX v3.8.13 (31233) keeps password in Unlock field

It looks like a bug has been introduced with one of the latest OSX releases; the behaviour I see is certainly both new and undesirable.

I run 1Password on OSX Lion, and when I Lock 1Password, the Lock screen appears - but with my Master password filled in (not showing, just showing the right number of circles). To unlock, all I have to do is press Enter!!

Is this a known issue, or is there something I can do to fix it? I don't recall changing any settings that could have been the cause of it.

In case it matters, I also use 1Password on Windows and iPhone, synchronized via Dropbox.

Thanks,

Allan

    Hey Allan,

Please uncheck the box to "Never prompt for master password" in 1Password's preferences on the Security pane.

If you decide that you want to re-check the box, you will see this warning that you previously confirmed in order to enable the setting:

"Storing 1Password's master password into the default login keychain can compromise your security. If the login keychain is not properly secured, which by default it is not, all your 1Password data can be viewed without entering the master password.

"It is recommended that you do not use this feature until you are familiar with how the login keychain works."

  • Thanks for the help. I have updated to 3.9 via MAS, and the issue went away without doing anything. Appreciate the reply.

The "Never prompt for master password" feature is not available in 1Password 3.9, so that is why the issue is now resolved for you. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
