Memory Leak in 1.0.9.259 - Agile1pAgent.exe using 1.7gb of Memory after 30 mins uptime

Hey there,

I am running the latest beta of 1Password (1.0.9.259 - check for newer version says it's the latest) together with Chrome 16.0.912.63 & my machine has been up for about half an hour now.. been to about a dozen sites, logged in to 1 via 1Password (Chrome Extension version is 3.8.9.38999).. but the C:\Program Files (x86)\1Password\Agile1pAgent.exe process is consuming a teeny tiny bit of more memory than expected (see attached screenshot).

Is this a known issue? Changelog says you fixed a memory leak, but something still seems to leak quite nicely. Checked the File & Product version of the .exe but it reports the exact same version string as 1Password itself.

Maybe for information, this is a Win7 64bit machine.

Cheers,

-J

    Hi Jörg,

I'm sorry about this, we're investigating a new memory leak in the 1.0.9.259 update. I've asked Stefan to look into it and hopefully we'll be able to fix this quickly.

You should be able to reduce the memory consumption by restarting the 1Password Helper. To do this, open the main 1Password app and go to Help > Restart 1Password Helper.

I hope that'll help a bit. We'll get this fixed ASAP.

    Hi Jörg,

Could you try downloading 1Password 1.0.9.258 and see if that'll help?

    Please let me know.

    Mike,

thanks for the quick reply. I'll give it a try and report back. What I forgot to mention yesterday & which might maybe help - whenever the Helper (and my machine) is restarted, the first 'few' (can't quite pin down the criteria for when it happens.. or not) login attempts fail with an 1Password error. I've send the error report (the one coming from @joergbattermann.com), maybe it helps.

    Hi Jörg,

We think we have fixed the memory leaks in the latest update, 1Password 1.0.9 Beta 260, please update to that beta version and see if it works better. You can enable the beta update by opening the main 1Password app, unlock and press the Preferences button. Go to the Updates section and check "Include Beta Versions". Press OK and then go to the Help Menu > Check for New Version.

I hope that helps, please let me know.

    Thanks!
  • That seems to have fixed it for me! I'll report back if it stops working again.

How much memory is Agile1pAgent.exe "consuming" now?
  • Hmm, well. I'm not getting out of memory errors anymore but it's still consuming 1,655,616k of memory.
  • OK more of an update, I hadn't tested it for long enough. I was still getting memory errors and also, using Chrome I'm getting notified that the 1Password Helper process is having problems.

    What should I try?

    Are you running 1.0.9.265?

Can you send me another error report, please?

Also, are you running Sophos, maybe?

Where should I send the report to?

    yes I'm running Sophos.

This explains your problems. Please follow these steps:

    1. click the Windows Start button

    2. click "Run…"

    3. enter "services.msc" (no quotes), and press Enter

    4. locate the "Sophos Web Intelligence" service, and double-click it

    5. change "Startup type" to "Manual"

    6. click OK

    7. restart your computer
  • Please let us know how it goes, Ollie!
  • It's my work machine, so I'll try on Monday. We don't have the Sophos HIPS/Web scanning enabled but the service gets deployed anyway no matter...

Sophos is blocking the 1Password Helper even when Sophos is turned off.

This isn't meant to sound rude but...

Is it a 1password issue or a Sophos issue? I have a support contract with Sophos I can lean on if you're sure it's a Sophos problem?

The Sophos Web Intelligence service is blocking communications to the 1Password Helper. Turning off Sophos does not seem to work. Un-installing Sophos does, but there is a better alternative:

    1. click the Windows Start button

    2. click "Run…"

    3. enter "services.msc" (no quotes), and press Enter

    4. locate the "Sophos Web Intelligence" service, and double-click it

    5. change "Startup type" to "Manual"

    6. click OK

    7. restart your computer
  • Hello,

That seems to have fixed it for now, thanks.

Need me to do anything else?

    Ollie
  • I think that should do it. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Thanks, Ollie!
