Chrome extension master password field doesn't have keyboard focus
Running 1Password 1.0.9.291 on Windows 7 Pro, 64bit 6.1 SP1. Browser is Chrome 18.0.1025.151 m.
For the last week or so, I've had a slightly annoying change in the behavior of the control panel in Chrome in which it sometimes doesn't have focus and requires a separate click on the control panel to complete commands.
Sometimes typing the Ctrl-\ hotkey will cause the control panel to pop up on the LEFT side of the screen. When this happens, everything works as normal. I can type my main password, type the first letters of a login, or use the arrow keys to select a login. The control panel seems to show up on the left mostly when I'm on a page that already has a login saved for it.
The problem comes when the control panel pops up on the RIGHT side of the screen. This happens whenever I 1) click on the 1password icon in the upper-right corner, 2) type the Ctrl-\ hotkey on a page that does not have any login saved for it, or 3) type the Ctrl-\ hotkey on the new tab page. While the control panel does pop up, it doesn't have focus and requires a separate click on the panel to use the arrow keys, type the start of a login item, or select an item. If I haven't yet logged into 1password during a browser session, I'm presented with a "locked" login prompt, but without clicking on the panel again I can't enter the main password.
Until about one week ago, the panel always had focus, whether it popped up on the right or the left. I realize this may seem minor, but for someone who uses the mouse as little as possible, it's frustrating to have to essentially call up the control panel twice for each action.
Thanks so much!

I was coming here to post the same thing. I too have been experiencing the same issue in Chrome where the password field of the 1Password extension does not have focus when I click on the 1Password extension icon.
OS: Win 7 Pro SP1 x64
Chrome: 18.0.1025.151 m
Please fix this. Up until a week or two ago the field did gain focus. It's very annoying that it no longer gains focus.
Thanks!Flag 0 -

If this is the common denominator, then this is where the problem is.Flag 0 -
The problem appears to be something in Chrome 18 for Windows. The extension does not exhibit this behavior in Chrome for Mac.
We are aware of the issue and looking to see if there is something we can do to work around this, but it is possible that we will have to wait for the bug to be fixed in Chrome. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
For now, you can either just click the master password input field to give it focus or use the CTRL+\ keyboard shortcut which opens the iframe and gives the master password input field proper focus.
I will post back with info as it is available.Flag 0 -
Thanks, Khad!
Interestingly, I find that the CTRL+\ keyboard shortcut now works more reliably than ever before. As a result, I don't have to use the icon as frequently.
Another change, however, is that the iframe no longer disappears after making a selection. To close it, I have to type Esc or use the mouse, even if a new tab has popped up with the selected login page. In the past,it would disappear after making a selection.Flag 0 -
This depends on your settings. Click the "Open Login in…" heading to toggle between "…New Tab", "…New Window", and "…Current Tab". If the Login opens in the current tab, then you won't see the iframe since the new page will load "on top of" it. This is a known issue, and I don't know offhand if it is something we can easily solve. I'll be sure to bring it up to the developers again, though.

The latest version of the Chrome Plugin doesn't automatically put the cursor in the password box when it pops up after clicking the dock icon.
I know it previously took focus automatically. It's not a big deal now, just if I forget to click to get the cursor into the box and start typing, there could be the possibility of typing the password somewhere else (and in plain text).
Just thought I'd mention it.Flag 0 -
Chrome 18.0.1025.152 introduced this problem for us.Flag 0

Running Windows 7 64 bit. 1P 3.9.3.39399 Chrome 18.0.1025.152 m
When I click on the key icon I get the login window for unlock. In prior versions it used to set keyboard focus to the password window.
Now it is not. I have to click on the password window to type in my password.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks

Thanks for the additional data point, pbryanw. As far as I know, there is not a current build of Chrome for Windows that resolves this issue (regardless of development channel).
AlexMat, I merged your post for this issue with this existing thread. Please see my post above.Flag 0 -
Hi, I have both Mac and Window version of 1Password and I love it!
But, I noticed that my Window version of 1Password's "Enter Master Password to unlock" box for Chrome extension does not show "white line" in center. So, I have to move the cursor to the box and need to click and enter my master password. It is so annoying. My Mac version of 1Password does have a "white line".
Is this only my problem? Thank you.Flag 0 -
Hello,
I am using the Chrome extension 3.9.4.39499 with Chrome 18.0.1025.162 m (right now with Win7, but with OSX Lion i am having the same issue).
When i klick on my 1P icon, the unlockscreen appears, but the cursor is not set in the password field. I cant start typing my masterpass right away. I need to do another klick in passfield. I dont know how long this is going on now, but even deleting my extensions and re-installing them did not help.
In FF12 i do not have this issue.
How can i fix the behavior of Chrome?Flag 0 -
Welcome to the forums, Squaracas. I moved your post to this existing thread in the Windows forum since the issue only applies to Chrome for Windows. If you can reproduce the same issue in Chrome for Mac, it will be the first ever report we have of this.

Unfortunately this is still not fixed in Chrome 18 for Windows. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Hi,
After a recent Chrome update when activating the Chrome extension the password entry field is not focused - I need to click the field to enter the password.
Also while 1Password is still unlocked, when clicking the extension icon I can't just start typing to perform a search, I need to click up near the 'Fill and Submit' heading for the typing to be recognised.
I am running Chrome 18.0.1025.168 m with extension version 3.9.4.39499.
Any thoughts/help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
SimonFlag 0 -
Welcome to the forums, Simon. It looks like somehow you missed this existing thread which was at the top of the list when you posted. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
I've merged your post.

still nothing on this topic? Is there at least a bug on chromium one can vote on? This seriously makes my user experience much worse, and I bet many other people's too. I guess Chrome is the most popular browser among One Password users on Windows.Flag 0

Same here... I would use the Firefox extension if they would remove the ugly Vista-esque border and use the neutral white one that Chrome uses.Flag 0 -
I have this as well - pretty annoying.
I see that Google is already tracking this bug:

No information on a real work-around yet, though. It also doesn't look like it has priority for them. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />Flag 0
