Feature Request: Custom Templates
Comments

I have to admit, I kind of cracked up when I saw a separate item in the wallet for "Hunting License". I really wishing the Product Manager that approved that as standard was also a Scuba Diver <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' /> But I guess I'll just add my dive card info under memberships.......Flag 0

What's a project manager? Aren't they The People that Schedule the Meetings? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I think you will be pleased to know that custom templates are a much requested feature and one we are keen to introduce eventually.Flag 0 -

Its been so long but if I remember correctly it was Dave's (aka one of the founders)
Keep on the look out for custom templates, they are in the cards but for when exactly I don't know.Flag 0 -

I can't share any specifics or a timeframe with you just yet, but this is definitely on our radar.

I hate to burst your bubble Rimvydas but AWS has been saying that this feature is on "radar" for *2* years now.
Sorry, I don't speak "Corporate." Can someone please translate "on the radar" into English for me? Is it still being considered for a feature? Being designed? Being developed/tested? If it is being developed or tested, I assume we are getting fairly close to release since it's been on the "radar" for two years? Perhaps you guys are waiting until 1Password 4?Flag 0 -
Hello Ben and welcome to the Forums!
"On the radar" means: It is being considered as a future upgrade, along with other requests. Consequently, the developers have spent some time at looking at the code required to not only design the feature on a stand alone 1Password application, but, more importantly, figure out how to ensure the custom template fields will sync to the various platforms (i.e., Mac, Windows, iOS devices, Android, Win Phone 7, etc.).
As Khad stated in a previous post in this thread:
The form filling code is already very complex for the existing items, if we were to attempt to fill everyone's custom templates it would be a nightmare for both us at AgileBits and all of our users. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
As far as I understand it, custom templates will not be able to fill forms on websites (which is why very structured data has been the avenue 1Password has traveled thus far).
As for the two years, please understand that AgileBits is a small company with relatively limited resources. Custom templates have been a much requested function, but browser integration is a much more important requirement for a majority of 1Password users. In recent months, there have been new versions of Safari, Firefox and Chrome...each with changes to how extensions integrate. However, during the months/years before, AB developed/released new versions of 1P for Mac, Windows, iPhone and iPad. All of these applications demanded developer focus before, during and after release.
I appreciate your passion for the template functionality, and I am there with you in desiring to see it. However, I hope I've provided some perspective on why neither of us have it yet...and why we may never see it. I do not know one way or the other as to when or if it will appear.
To steal another quote from Khad:
I am not one of the developers, and my understanding may be incorrect. This is not a promise of a feature nor is it a denial of a feature. Pigs may or may not fly.
Thanks again for offering your feedback.
Cheers!

Ben,
Thanks for your understanding, and I do appreciate your post. Hopefully, others who read this thread will benefit from our discussion.

Hello Cloaky,
I merged your topic with a similar thread.
Thanks for the suggestion! A Game Account type may be valuable for many of our users.
In the interim, you may wish to check out the Identities vault type for storing Gaming account information. Identities
There are several fields that may be useful for storing much of the information you would need for gaming sites.
Please take a look and let me know what you think.
Cheers!

Oh thanks! Sorry about making a new topic, didn't see this one!
Well, the Identities vault would work more as a temporary solution. If you guys create a Category tab, in which we could add/remove/edit custom Account items it would be sweeet! All we would need is a image and a name. Adding a Game Account would be a nice start tho : )
Thanks once again.Flag 0 -
I think one of the biggest advantages of doing this would be being able to keep up with hardware serial numbers in addition to the software serial numbers you can keep track of now.
I'm a semi-pro photographer, and being able to database the serial numbers of my camera equipment along with my photo editing software would be a massive aid to me.Flag 0 -

Hey Cloaky,
No worries about making a new topic. This topic's title isn't the most obvious place to look for your suggestion.
I agree that custom templates would be sweet. Thanks again for comment .

Hello acato and welcome to the Forums!
I agree that it would be helpful to add hardware serial numbers in a separate field within entries in the Software vault.
Currently, I add the hardware serial numbers in the Notes section of my Software entries, but I can see how your feature request would be a great upgrade.
Thanks for suggestion!
Cheers!

While we don't give time estimates on when or if features will be available in the future, I am excited at the prospect! The lawyers tell me I can't make any promises, though. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />Flag 0

Hello,
First, Mad props on a kick as* program!
Second, When I'm entering info, I find that I have to make two entries for things like credit cards and insurance cards one being in the wallet where there are appropriate fields for everything, and one in the web login. Would it be possible for every entry in the program to be a "Login"?
Lastly, I'm wondering if you can make a place in the wallet for vehicles that one might own. This would include trailers, snowmobiles and ATV's, cars, trucks, motorhomes, etc.Flag 0 -
Welcome to the forums, jondues!
I merged your post with the "Custom Templates" thread. I hope you don't mind. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
As discussed a bit earlier in the thread — don't worry, I know it's long, so I'll summarize — custom templates are something we are excited about in the future, but keep in mind that form filling only works well with specially formatted data. If everything was freeform it would be a nightmare to try to match everything and fill it properly. So even with custom templates, the items which can be filled in the browser extensions (Logins, Credit Cards, Identities) will likely remain the only items which will fill in the browsers.
That said, custom templates still have the potential to be immensely helpful for many 1Password users! I'll pass your vote along.

I got a Mac and a Windows and I am using 1Password on both. I decided to move all my license keys to 1Password, and I got a Idea, what if in the software tab we could select in a dropdown menu the OS that that key stands for: Linux, Mac OS, Windows or Other! It could show a small icon among with the app icon! That would look amazing! I ended up making 2 folders, Windows and Mac OS to separate the licenses, I could have added to the app title as well, "1Password for Mac OS", but those solutions wouldn't look as good as a small tiny icon showing the OS right next to the app icon!
Thanks once again.Flag 0 -
Hiya, Cloaky!
Thanks for the suggestion. I merged this with the more general "Custom Templates" thread, as this is sort of in the same vein. That would be really neat to have. As I amass a larger collection of software for different platforms, I could definitely find this useful. Right now I just add the OS type to the end of the title. Hopefully we will be able to allow for greater customization in a future version. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

You could also use a "Windows" tag for each windows software license key.
The nice thing about doing something like this is that you can set up a Smart Folder that will automatically collect your windows software. Just set up a filter with the following criteria:

Kind is Software License

Tag is Windows *or* Title ends with [windows]
Flag 0 -

Yknow what? Derrr! This makes me realize that I don't use tags nearly as much as I should. Thanks for the reality check, egordin! Flag 0 -

Haha me neither, but I do like the idea and the ability to do so! Keep up the good work guys - every time I get notification that someone replied to this thread, I get the a bit of hope in the back of my mind that its about how there's a beta with this feature and you guys are asking for feedback. I know its on the way - can't wait.Flag 0 -
How can I add to or modify the Wallet and Accounts Vaults templates?
Certain Wallet items, like a Health Care Card, do not fit within the list of new item types or their templates.
Additionally, how can I modify the existing templates so they apply to Canada. For example, Canada has Provinces and Territories, not States. A Social Security Number is an American term. Canada uses the term Social Insurance Number.
Thanks!Flag 0 -
Hello Just Macintosh and welcome to the Forums!
I merged your topic with a similar thread.
Currently, vault templates are static and cannot be modified. However, as you can tell from the length of this thread, customizable templates are a popular feature request.
I do not have any information regarding future availability of this feature, but please continue to check back for updates.
Cheers!

Hi,
I really enjoy 1Password OSX+iOS but there's one thing missing that I would really appreciate to get in a future update and this is the ability to create new vault category with editable template. Would be so great. Or if I need to be less ambitious, I would simply enjoy to get a "Home Inventory" vault. This is actually the only one thing keeping me from using only 1Password as wallet app.
Thanks to the developpers for your good work.Flag 0 -
Vote: counted. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
Thanks to the developpers for your good work.
Thank you for your kind words!
In the meantime, you might consider Secure Notes which allow completely freeform text.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.
Cheers,Flag 0 -
I have some personal items I want to record info from and add photos of them. Kind of like for home inventory, but it needs to be secure. I currently just use a secure note, but..
Is there any method to add a custom vault item under wallet that would allow a separate area like wallet for my special items?Flag 0
