Now that FF4 is out of beta, could we hope to see a working 1P extension soon? The cmd-\ function seems to be working fine for now.Flag 0

Hi BruceS,
The latest versions of 1Password 3, including the stable release and the 3.6.0.BETA-2 release are fully compatible with Firefox 4. However, you do need to ensure you have enabled the separate Firefox 4 extension by first quitting Firefox 4 and then going to 1Password > Preferences > Browsers and checking the option for Firefox 4.
If you then restart Firefox 4 you should be up and running.

Problem solved.
When I investigated further, I found that the add-on being rejected was the one for firefox 3.
When I opened preferences for 1Password, I discovered that there was a seperate add-on for firefox 4.
Installing the firefox 4 version makes everything work correctly.Flag 0 -

In 1P/Win there is no separate checkbox for FF4 versus FF3. It's just Firefox. Now that FF4 has been officially released, does it still make sense to retain this distinction in 1P/Mac, or ought it be dropped in the next point release? Likewise, does it still make sense to have a separate button to install the Chrome extension?Flag 0 -
Hi Ben,
I asked this very question of our resident Firefox tamer, Chad, earlier today. From what I understand we currently need to have a separate extension on the Mac due to the different way the Firefox extensions are handled on Mac and Windows.
The Chrome extension installation process is different on the Mac than it is for Windows, but I can certainly agree that it would be nice to have this in the regular set of checkboxes. I'll mention this to our developers, but I can't promise if or when it may be possible.
Thanks for the feedback,Flag 0 -

I have just upgraded from Firefox 3.6 to Firefox 4. My 1Password was not compatible. Is there a compatible plugin?
Hi tonyros,
As billk69 said, you can indeed use 1Password with Firefox 4, first of all please make sure you're using the latest version of 1Password 3 by going to 1Password > Check for Updates to get the latest 3.5.9 update.
Once you've done that, please quit Firefox 4 and then go to 1Password > Preferences > Browsers and ensure that the 'Firefox 4' option is checked. If you then restart Firefox 4 you should be up and running.
Thanks, and enjoy 1Password and Firefox 4 <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />Flag 0 -

Welcome to the forums, Spazholio.
Could you take a screen shot of where you are enabling "Firefox 4 (FF4 Beta)"? Only Firefox 3 and Firefox 4 should be listed under normal circumstances (Preferences > Browsers).

It sounds like you have multiple Firefox profiles — one of them named "FF4 Beta" which is the active one — so you need to install 1Password's Firefox 4 extension in your active Firefox profile in order for 1Password to work.
You can check to see what profiles you have installed in this manner:
Important: Before you can start the Profile Manager, Firefox must be completely closed.

Navigate to /Applications/Utilities. Open the Terminal application.

In the Terminal application, enter the following:
/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -ProfileManager

Press Return.

Mike,
I am not sure if you are referring to the the Mac version and or the Win version of 1P being used with FF4. But since you placed this in the Mac forum I will got that route.
It is available now I am using it in FF4 which I am also using to type this to you.
Please check your 1P > preferences > Browsers and make sure that you have the FF4 extension enabled http://bit.ly/eAMX73
I run every beta and such but I think the ext is available in the stable build. Don't hold me to that tho.Flag 0 -
Hi,
I'm also having trouble getting 1password to work with FF4.
I've attached some screenshots to show the problem.
* I have FF4 installed and have removed FF3

* I go to the Prefs -> Browsers and get select Firefox 4. I'm asked to quit FF4. I do so.

* Now can't select the FF4 checkbox but can select FF3 (which isn't installed).

Thoughts?

Martin,
Please ensure that Firefox.app is located in your /Applications folder and that you only have a single copy of Firefox.app on your machine. Please let me know if that was the problem.
If you are still having trouble, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, open 1Password and select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report. Then attach the entire file to an email to support@agilewebsolutions.com.
Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

HI PJ, welcome to the forums!
That’s strange, it should show up. Did 1Password’s Preferences > Browsers show the correct version for Firefox and did you click the “Profiles” button to make sure that it is checked for all of your Profiles?
Try to right click on the toolbar to select “Customize” and see if you can locate the 1Password button to drag to the toolbar:
Hi Gerard, I moved your post to the Mac forums since the Firefox extensions are not the same on both Mac and Windows.
Please make sure that you’re running the latest version of 1Password, 3.5.9. You can find the version number by opening 1Password and go to the 1Password Menu > About 1Password. If you are not running 3.5.9, please check for updates in the same Menu (1Password > Check for Updates) or download the latest copy of 1Password from our web site here: http://agilewebsolutions.com/downloads
After updating, you should able to see Firefox 4 now in the Browsers Preferences. Make sure that Firefox 4 is also installed to the Applications folder on your Mac.Flag 0 -

I'm having the exact same issue as Martins, i tick the box, it tells me ff4 is running, I choose 'ask firefox to quit' and 1password seemingly does nothing. The box then won't let me tick it.
I have the same problems irrespective of whether I quit FF4 manually or have 1password do it. Additionally if I try to check it while ff4 isn't running the box just instantly unchecks itself.Flag 0 -
It sounds like Firefox is caching some data from a previous version. You can fix this by completely uninstalling the Firefox extension and reinstalling it:
1. Make sure Firefox is not running.
2. Launch 1Password from your /Applications folder
3. Click 1Password > Preferences > Browsers
4. Uncheck the box next to all versions of Firefox
5. Launch Firefox and click Tools > Add-ons > Extensions. Make sure that 1Password is *not* listed.
6. Step #5 is the most important step so I'll repeat it again here <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Launch Firefox and make sure 1Password is not there.
7. If 1Password is appearing in the Extensions window, click the Uninstall button on the 1Password extension and quit Firefox.
8. Return to your 1Password window and check the box next to Firefox. There are two versions: 3 and 4. Pick the one that you have installed.
9. Restart Firefox and click Tools > Add-ons > Extensions. Make sure that 1Password is listed.
After following these steps, the Firefox extension will have forgotten everything about previous versions and should work correctly.Flag 0 -

Hi Khad,
No go unfortunately. I can repeat this several times and nothing much changes.

1Password is installed in ~/Applications not /Applications. This has always worked previously, I hope it can continue to work. This lets me back up my home folder and kinda 'ignore' the / as it's just operating system stuff.

Firefox was too, though I've moved it to /Applications and nothing improved.
I saw in an earlier thread you asked about the contents of the extensions folder in Application Support, it's completely empty for the ff extensions as you can see here: All the directories look like a firefox extension but there are no files within them. I've deleted that directory, clicked disable all extensions, then re-enabled them. It makes no difference sadly.
Something's clearly broken but I'm not sure what else I could tell you. Let me know! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
I have the same problem as Martin. Running 1Password Version 3.5.9 (build 30884) on a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.6.6, with Firefox 4.
I have tried all the solutions posted, but the 1P icon still does not show.
Here is a related possibility: When I try to install extensions into Firefox 4, they Download but do not Install. The Install step just hangs. Could this be related?
1Password works on Chrome at the same time it does not work on FF4.
BTW, I've checked that there is only one Default profile on FF. I've installed, uninstalled, and re-installed the 1P driver for FF4. I've uninstalled the driver for FF3. Restarting between every step.
Nothing has enabled 1P on FF4.
Guys, there seems to be an additional problem at work here besides the one you have solved. Can you help?
Thanks.
Oh, I also reset the 1P folder permissions. AFAIK, I've tried every recommended solution, without success.Flag 0 -
