But, now I'm looking for new browser and password solutions that will be stable and easy to maintain so I can get back to something productive.
Hey there, dmilton!
Since 1Password 3.5.9 and Firefox 3.6.18 will continue to work as they always have, there is no need to spend any time on it. The only 'maintenance' required is to just keep using them this week the same as you did last week! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Notice that the release notes say FF 3 users are ENCOURAGED to stick with 1P 3.5.9. That doesn't tell me that the new update WON'T WORK AT ALL with FF 3!
Hey, Rebel! I know that release notes are boring, but they are the best way -- short of spamming everyone (which does not guarantee that anyone reads it anyway!) -- that we have to inform everyone of changes, since they are shown with the update notification itself. The phrase "replacing OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and Firefox 3 support" was meant to indicate that these are not included in this release. I am sorry if this was not clear. Please don't set yourself on fire. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
Thanks for the clarification--that does help. So, to be clear (since "critical" begs the question), there were no security updates at all, or just some that weren't deemed "critical?"
We included the complete list of changes in the release notes. Since there were no known security vulnerabilities, there were no such security patches. I hope that helps! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
You know what really stinks? I moved the work computer back for FF3.
I went to upgrade to FF 4, and you can't get it from any "Trusted" source...
Every websites FF 4 links to Mozilla's site which proceeds to download 5.0 and 5.0... problems??? Just google "Firefox 5 problems"... it is not pretty.
So if I can't get FF 4, I looked at the other browsers 1password supports and it is not pretty... IMHO.
I can not believe I am in this position! I am almost completely on a IPad where I rarely use a browser. But for some projects I need a MAC.
Geez, I really don't want to run a "no frills/no name" browser... But unless I can get FF4, it looks like I will be forced to... <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />Flag 0 -
You can download old Mozilla versions from Mozilla's server. The US English version of Firefox 4 is still available from releases.mozilla.org along with all other supported languages.
I'm not clear as to which version of OS X or 1Password you are running, so here is a link to the "Which Firefox versions are supported?" section of 1Password's User Guide. That should contain all the relevant information. The short version continues to be:

If you are using the latest version of 1Password (requires Snow Leopard or Lion) you should use the latest version of Firefox. Firefox 4 and 5 are supported in 1Password 3.6.0.
If you require support for older versions of Firefox, please use the older version of 1Password. Firefox 3 and 4 are supported in 1Password 3.5.9.
If you are interested in trying other browsers, 1Password also supports Safari and Chrome (among others), so your are not relegated to a "no name" browser. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
If there is anything else I can help with, just say the word.

You didn't search very hard!
A Google search for firefox previous version finds, as the 8th link down, this Mozilla forum page titled Go back to an old version of Firefox that tells you exactly how to do it, with links to the old versions archive.
A Google search for firefox previous versions finds several places where you can download old versions:
5th search result: http://www.oldapps.com/firefox.php
8th search result: http://www.oldversio...%20Firefox.html
Those are both good resources for old versions of many apps.Flag 0 -

I did look in my profile, in the Posts tab, and my post isn't there. Aren't all my posts supposed to be listed there, as well? After all, the header in that tab is "Posts I've Made."

After the 1password update several days ago, 1password buttons were suddenly missing in Firefox toolbar. Firefox is 3.6.10 1Password is 3.6.0 (build 31043)
I've tried the 9-step solution posted on this site, several times, to no avail. I repaired permissions and went through the 9 steps again, even shutting down the Macbook after uninstalling the FF extensions and removing Firefox in 1PW preferences. Each time, after going through the steps faithfully, in Firefox Add-ons, highlighting each, I get the following:
1password extension 4 for Firefox 4 3.60
(red !) Password manager & form filler for Mac OS X
not compatible with Firefox 3.6.1
1password extension 4 for Firefox 5 3.60
(red !) Password manager & form filler for Mac OS X
not compatible with Firefox 3.6.1
No other errors.
Please tell me I will not have to un and re-install 1password.Flag 0 -
Hello maximzodal and welcome to the Forums!
I merged your topic with the appropriate thread.
I'm sorry to report that 1Password 3.6.0 does not support Firefox 3. However, the newest version does support FF 4 and FF 5.
If you wish to continue integrating 1P's browser extension with FF 3, you will need to download and reinstall 1P 3.5.9.
Please see the following 1P help article for information regarding Firefox support: Which Firefox versions are supported?
In addition, it may be helpful to review Khad's earlier post for more details regarding the fundamental differences between 3.5.9 and 3.6.0.
I'm sorry I do not have a better answer for you at this time.
Cheers!

Hello... I've tried the "fix" three times... 1st time, removed 1 password extensions for FF3,4,5 from Firefox. all say they are not compatible with Firefox 3.6.17.
Unchecked FF at 1 password. restarted mac. checked and there were no 1psw extensions on FF. Closed FF. Checked box for FF on 1psw, opened FF, now 1psw extensions for FF 4 & 5, both saying not compatible with FF 3.6.17
Repeated. Same result.
Sigh.
OS X 10.6.7 (MacBook Pro)
1Password 3.6.1 (build 31057)
Firefox 3.6.17
My life is sort of hellish without 1Password <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_sadsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-(' />
Help?Flag 0 -
I just updated to 1P today and now I can't get the 1P icon to appear in Firefox or Safari! I've never had this happen before...
I'm running OS 10.6.8 with Firefox 3.6.13 and Safari 5.0.5
In fact, after trying to add the new profile, following the instructions at the 1P help site, my Firefox no longer opens to the usual page. I get a weird Start Page asking me to log in.
This is messed up - please help!
Thanks very much,
ShaunBFlag 0 -
Welcome to the forums, Virginia and Beccadee. I'm sorry that you and ShaunB are having this problem, but I think we can get this resolved for you pretty quickly.
I merged your posts with the appropriate thread. Please see above for more details, but I'll try to get you up to speed quickly here:
Part way through the development of 1Password for Mac 3.6, we realized that we had to make critical internal changes to properly support customers running the latest of everything: the soon to be released OS X Lion, Snow Leopard, and the latest versions of Firefox. Because of that turning point, Firefox 3 is not able to be supported in 1Password for Mac 3.6.0 or higher.
If you have to use Firefox 3 with 1Password for any reason, you'll need to downgrade to the version of 1Password (3.5) that still supports Firefox 3:
http://help.agilebits.com/1Password3/legacy_versions.html
Be sure to quit 1Password and all your browsers. Drag the newly downloaded version of 1Password to the same location as any previous one -- replacing it. Run the new copy of 1Password once before launching any of your browsers and go to the 1Password Menu > Preferences > Browsers. Check the box next to Firefox 3 and disable the one for Firefox 4 if you don't use it. Open your browser and 1Password should be there now.
Of course if you are able to use the latest version of Firefox, that would be the ideal:
http://getfirefox.com/
Once you have downloaded and installed he latest version of Firefox, go to the 1Password Menu > Preferences > Browsers and check the box next to Firefox.
I hope that helps. Please let me know.
Thanks!
(ShaunB, if you are still having trouble with Safari can you start another thread? I want to try to keep this Firefox thread on topic.)Flag 0 -
Hello Kevin and welcome to the Forums!
Which version of 1Password are you running? Firefox 3.x is not supported in the newest version of 1P (3.6). If you wish to integrate 1Password with FF 3, you can install 1P 3.5.
Please review the following article on our website for more information regarding 1P versions and supported browsers: 1Password Version Support
If you are currently running 1P 3.5, please let me know. We will help you to get up and running again!
Cheers!
