"1Password data is not available" in Safari 5.1 on Lion

joeliolio
edited June 2011 in Mac
Hi,

In Lion, running Safari, I have gotten into a state where Cmd-\ doesn't work and if I manually press the 1P button, and enter any password, it pops up an alert saying:

safari-extension://com.agilebits.onepassword-safari-2BUA8C4S2C

1Password data is not available. Please open and unlock 1Password to sync your information.

I tried unlocking 1P, quitting and reopening 1P and Safari in every combination, I uninstalled 1P extension from Safari Prefs, reinstalled it, removed the contents of ~/Library/App Support/1P/Extensions... and reinstalled the plugin in Safari. Same alert.

Any ideas?

Edit: Oh yeah, I should probably mention that i'm trying SpiderOak for syncing as I don't trust Dropbox after their security breach. I suppose that could be related.

To help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, open 1Password and select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report. Then attach the entire file to an email to support@agilebits.com.

Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

We've identified an issue where the syncing between your 1Password data file and the new Safari extension is not happening if you have enabled the "Disable automatic unlock for all applications" in the 1Password > Preferences > Security pane.

Please disable that box temporarily, and we believe that the sync will then succeed.
  • Thanks! I got the email response as well. I had tried turning this on and off, and it didn't work until just now.

Either way, looking forward to being able to make the Safari plugin auto-lock after a time again.

    Thanks for the update, joeliolio!

You should be able to use that option in Preferences again in the next beta release.

    Please keep us posted. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
  • I am having the same problem with the latest build of 1Password and 1PW Addon. I constantly get "Data not available". It all worked until yesterday, but I had to reinstall the addons and now the Safari addon seems broken. I am currently using the 0.0.1 Beta 21 version of the safari extension and all works well. Is there another solution for this issue maybe?

    Welcome to the forums, Eisenheim!

Please help me understand the issue more clearly. What version of 1Password are you using? The latest beta version is probably what you should be using if you are using Safari 5.1 since it contains some fixes which are not available in 3.6.0 stable. It also comes with the 3.6.5.BETA-23 version of the Safari 5.1 extension.

Are you having trouble with 1Password 3.6.1.BETA-2 and 3.6.5.BETA-23 of the Safari 5.1 extension?

    Please let me know.

I did not realize that you had another beta version of 1Password. I was using 3.6.0 when I had this issue. After updating to the latest beta the issue was resolved. Thank you very much <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

If you need anything else, just send a carrier pigeon. You can also post here in the forums.

    Ciao!
  • I'm seeing this issue in Safari 5.1 on the GM seed of Lion. I'm running 1Password Version 3.6.1 (build 31057) with version 3.6.5-beta23 of the extension. None of the fixes in this thread have helped.

Welcome to the forums, mattstocum. I'm sorry that you are having trouble getting the new Safari 5.1 extension working.

Have you sent in your Diagnostics Report as suggested above? I wasn't able to find it in our support queue when searching for the email address you used to sign up for the forums. If you sent it from a different email address, you can PM me with the address. We'll take a look at it as soon as we receive it.

    Thanks!
  • I cannot get the the extension to work correctly with Lion. Every time I try to unlock the Master File from within Safari I get:

    safari-extension://com.agilebits.onepassword-safari-2BUA8C4S2C

I have reinstalled the extension several times, still get the same error. Am I doing something wrong?
  • Really? No response or help with this?
  • I'm still getting the "data not available" problem with Safari 5.1 (7534.48.3) and 1Password Safari extension 3.6.5.BETA-28.

    FYI, I have Lion 10.7 and 1Password app 3.6.5 (build 31075)

Welcome to the forums, TheGeekGuy! While you may find that you won't get a response within 24 hours on most forums, I am glad you have higher standards for AgileBits. We normally do reply within less than 24 hours, but with the release of Lion and our brand new extension you can imagine that we have been a bit busier lately. We are all working double-shifts around the clock to keep up. (In truth, I crashed yesterday after being awake for too long, so it was likely my own health and sanity that delayed this reply.) Sorry I couldn't reply sooner.

Could you post a screen shot of where exactly you are seeing that URI? Is it in the address bar?

Please make sure you are using 1Password 3.6.5 and Safari extension 3.6.5.BETA-29.

To manually update the Safari extension, you will need to temporarily disable automatic updates, otherwise, if you sit tight it will eventually update automatically.

Please let me know how it goes for you with the latest update.

    Cheers!

A restart of your Mac should resolve the problem if simply updating the extension doesn't do the trick. Be sure to open and unlock 1Password before you launch Safari and attempt to open the extension after you restart.

Please let me know how it goes for you with the latest update.

I just did the update with the safari extension and still getting the same result even after a restart.
  • Like many others I foolishly upgraded to Lion and found problems with several applications, especially '1Password'. I did contact Agile, not having realised that this forum existed. I was extremely impressed by Dave Teare, AgileBits Founder's, helpful reply entitled, QUESTIONS, ANSWERS, AND USEFUL LINKS'. Having read this all is now well. Agile are obviously a caring and responsive organisation and I must congratulate them on their hard work in getting 1Password(my best Mac utility)working so quickly. This experience contrasts with me asking Microsoft why Outlook:mac2011 doesn't sync with my iPhone - their response was no response!
  • HI Roentgen and welcome to the Forums!

Thank you for the very nice comment. I understand why others may not feel the way you do, but I believe your experience is a great example of the results other members will hopefully receive if he or she posts in the Forum with detailed information or sends us an e-mail with the same.

We want to fix every issue that is brought to our attention. However, we are unable to even attempt to fix/update/enhance our application without specific knowledge of what is wrong. There is a completely different troubleshooting procedure for "none of my websites login correctly" vs. "URL #1, #2 and #3 do not Fill or AutoSubmit correctly".

Thanks again for the kind words. I've shared your comments with Dave, and I am sure that he is very happy to hear that you found his reply as helpful as he intended.

    Cheers!

I seem to be having this issue as well. Running 1Password 3.6.5 (31075) and 3.6.5.BETA-30 extension. Also, I am on Lion (full release - not GM) and Safari 5.1 (7534.48.3) on a 2011 Macbook Pro i7. Here are a few screenshots ..

Please uninstall the extension from Safari's preferences and then update to the latest beta version of 1Password. You can do this by going to the 1Password > Preferences window, selecting the Update panel, enable the "Include Beta versions" checkbox, and then click Check Now. Once the update is installed, try reinstalling the extension again and see if it helps.

Please let me know how it turns out.

    Thanks!

    Hello TheGeekGuy,

I hope you don't mind, but I merged your topic with a similar thread.

Please refer to Khad's previous response for details on how we believe you can resolve the error you are seeing.

FYI: the latest Safari extension requires running the latest Beta version of 1Password. As of this writing those are 1Password (beta) 3.7.b1 and 3.7.0.BETA-2 (build 31079), respectively.

As Khad mentioned, if you are not offered this Beta version when you check for updates, please ensure that "Include Beta versions" is checked in 1Password > Preferences on the Updates tab.

Please let us know if it works for you.

    Cheers!

    Hello TheGeekGuy,

I see you are running Safari extension 3.6.b34.

The current version is 1Password (beta) 3.7.b1 (see screen shot).

Do you have extensions enabled to update automatically in Safari's preferences? Please refer to Khad's post for details on how to manually update as an alternative: Safari Extension Updating

Once you have the current extension installed, please try again and post your results.

    Thanks.

    Brandt

P.S. You can always find the latest version of our Safari extension listed in our release notes here: Safari Extension Release Notes
  • I'm still seeing this issue with 1Password 3.7.0.BETA-2 (build 31079) and 3.7.b1 of the extension. Attached is the error dialog I'm getting. This is with a completely fresh install of 1Password. I had not used 1Password with Snow Leopard, and am interested in it since MobileMe is going away, and keychain syncing with it.
  • Updated the extension and 1Password and still getting the same error:

I had the same issue earlier on Snow Leopard. It gave the "data not available" on my work computer but not at home. The strange thing is both at work and home are using the exact same version plug-in (beta 30) and the same 1Password (3.6.5).

The fix to "data not available" glitch:

    1-Rename your 1Password file (ex.FileName.agilekeychain to MyNewFileName.agilekeychain)

2-Launch 1Password and have it reconnect to the new file name.

3-Quit 1Password (this is because after reconnect it, it stalls)

4-Relaunch 1Password again (do not double click the source file, double click the application instead) and it should open.

5-Launch Safari and the 1Password plug-in should work.

This issue should be fixed by unlocking 1Password application.

Please note: not by unlocking the Safari extension, by unlocking the 1Password.app.
  • khad

    Please try this:

Quit Safari

Open 1Password.app

Unlock 1Password.app

Select "Restart Agent" in the Help > Troubleshooting menu

Open Safari

Unlock the Safari extension
Let me know if that helps for now, but we are working on a better solution in an update.

    Thanks!

"Restart Agent" doesn't help! I've got the same problem on my MacBook.

I installed the extension 3.7.b2 and 3.7.0 Beta 3, no solution too...
