Safari 5.1 Extension

2

Comments

  • I choose to have a blank screen (about:none) as my home screen, but I am unable to invoke 1Password with the new Safari 5.1 extension from that screen. The same applies if I change the home screen to Top Sites. I have to have some content displayed before 1Password will respond to its keyboard shortcuts or licking on the toolbar icon. Is this behaviour expected?

The extension isn't loading properly on sites using frames, such as my bank's online interface.

Clicking the 1P toolbar button does nothing. I have to click in one of the frames and then invoke the Cmd-\ keyboard shortcut. Even then it loads inside the frame and if the frame is too small it just gets cut off. Is there no way for it to be on a higher z-index than the frames?

The Safari extension is not able to intercept input when a web page is not loaded. I do not believe there is anything that can be done about this unless Apple updates the API.

I do not know offhand if it will be possible to work around this, but we will certainly look into it. Inexplicably, the CapitalOne login page (which uses a frame for the login form) does not exhibit this problem. If you can share the URL to the site in question, we will be happy to investigate further. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I am sorry you are having this problem. I have actually had to turn it off since it was driving me nuts trying to troubleshoot some things last night/this morning, so I am pretty sure it is working. Could you please try reinstalling the extension? Just follow these steps:

    Remove the 1Password extension

Open Safari
Go to the Safari Menu > Preferences > Extensions
Select the 1Password extension
Click “Uninstall”
Close Safari
Reinstall the Safari extension

Open 1Password
Go to the 1Password Menu > Preferences > Browsers
Click the “Install Safari Extension” button
When prompted, click “Install”
First I want to apologize for my bad English.

After hitting the Return-Key, nothing happens. If I reinstall the plugin via 1Password-App, it works until I restart Safari 5.1. Anybody else with this problem or a solution? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Haven't moved to Lion, Still on Snow Leopard. Safari 5.1. 1P is really broken, many sites broken but some work.

    eg Surveymonkey.com does not work

    But Amazon log in works

I'll use Firefox till it gets better.

Have tried uninstalling extension and reinstalling it
  • I'm having issues also - when I try to click on the 1password icon on these websites:

    https://baseware.beatport.com/en-US/html/login

you can barely make out something opening, it looks like the extreme top edge of the 1password window.. but on this website:

    http://www.decks.de/

    you can't see anything happening..

    ideas?

Hey, Bruce! I am sorry to hear of your tribulations.

  • I have two issues with 1P in Safari 5.1 and Lion 10.7.

    1. 1P keeps asking me for the master password. On two separate occasions, the popup window asking for the master password froze on screen.

    2. Auto-submit no longer seems to auto-submit.

I did install, remove and reinstall the extension. I've re-started both applications and the computer.

Hope I submitted this in the right place. Thank you for your help.

Updated to Safari 5.1, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and 1Password 3.6.1 (build 31057), and I got prompt to install Safari Extensions. Did so, and the interface is not working for me. Most of the time when clicking 1P icon, I get no suggestions, and must then search through all logins. And even when finding correct login, sometimes get "Failed to open page" Saying "Safari can't open the specified address." with "?" icon having "open-help-anchor:ibrw1071". Subtext says "Safari can't open "..xxx.." because the first character of its address is not valid." where "..xxx.." is url to cPanel login of my website.

I uninstalled Safari Extensions, but of course now there is no '1P' icon, making 1Password almost useless within Safari. Switching back to Firefox now where there is no problem. Wonder how I can uninstall Safari 5.1 and go back to previous version.

Maybe this works with Lion, but it certainly broke for me in Snow Leopard.

Ditto here. 1Password should just tell people to use Firefox for awhile rather than wasting everyone's time.

    Running Leopard 10.6.8, 1P 3.6.1.

The 1P icon shows on the menu bar. However 1P will not fill any sites. When I right click on a site (to have 1P fill the password) 1P isn't on the menu.

I tried the suggested remove/reinstall extensions if Safari twice. Still doesn't work.

On Safari, Preferences, Extensions - it shows 1Password 3.6.5.BETA-23. Have no idea where that came from. That was the reason I removed/reinstalled twice. The 3.6.5.BETA-23 is still there.

1P still won't fill any sites and is not available on the mouse right click. thanks.

    1. Do you have a form or something to submit sites that don't work?

    2. Check out citizensbank.com. The 1P button does nothing at all in Safari 5.1 but works in Firefox.

I started using the new 1Password extension with Safari 5.1 today and have a few questions. I've looked through the forums and the other info at the 1Password site and haven't found answers yet.

    1. What happened to the Unfiled folder? When adding a login, the dialog box in Safari used to ask if I wanted to save the login info and gave the option to choose a category. If I didn't choose a category, it automatically went to Unfiled, and I edited the entry later. Now I don't know where a new login is located.

    2. For many sites, I see that I have to manually enter the login once before the new 1Password extension "knows" it. Personally, I'm not happy about that as it's taking a lot of extra time & effort to get a previously effortless app to work again. That aside, I have a question about the names assigned. For example, I previously had named this forum's login as 1Password Forum. When I manually entered the info to log in and 1Password created a new login, the new login was named forum.agile.ws. If I change the name back to 1Password Forum, will 1Password still recognize it as the login for this site?

    3. I read the info about syncing w/iPod Touch, iPad, etc. using Dropbox. I've been syncing my Mac w/my iPod Touch & iPad from within the 1Password software (left column, under Sync). Can I still do this or does the sync have to go through Dropbox?

    Thank you.

If you have Web Snapper installed (or anything else from Tasty Apps), trying removing it from Safari. That fixed it for me on Safari 5.1/Snow Leopard. ("Fixed" = can install the extension. Still have problems with the extension not working properly on many web sites.)

The Safari 1Password extension doesn't work here either on two computers running Snowleopard after I installed Safari 5.1. I use 1Password 3.6.1 (build 31057). I followed the above mentioned procedure many times but I was not able to get it working. I have Javascript enabled and no other extensions in use. Had to install Firefox to be able to use 1Password, because I have many generated passwords which are impossible to remember. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_sadsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-(' />

  • Hi,

I had troubles too with 1password/lion/safari 5.1 (button not working). I did uninstall/reinstall/javascript ... none resolved the problem.

But when I created an account on this forum, I was asked by 1password to save this new login and it fixed the problem. Now it seems to work well, hopefully.

This experience may help : try to register a new login somewhere, it may put everything back together.

IMHO, Apple is not the first to blame as they released developer versions of lion and safari 5.1 since months. I am disappointed by developers these days : I have troubles with other apps too.

1password is a PAID app, I expect better quality and testing.

I am also experiencing the same problems. The new 1Password extension doesn't appear to be compatible with either Safari 5.1 or many web sites. The new extension works for Agile's forum log in, but not with several others I've tried. When trying to use the extension I either get a blank screen after clicking on the password, or I get an error message from the web site into which I'm trying to log.

The other thing I notice is that the 1Password extension that shows up in Safari is listed as "3.6.5 BETA - 23". IS this really a beta Agile is testing, or is it supposed to be the final product?
  • Brenty,

Thank you for adding the information about the Browser extension, mine was defaulted out to Firefox. Clicked add extension to Safari and I am back to working like Butter!

  • PLEASE! put the drop down menu BACK in the icon!

What a mess - this was a near-perfect thing you had going. New improvements are supposed to ADD new features, not SUBTRACT functionality.

You took SOMETHING AWAY, no matter what spin you put on it, trying to explain away how it's supposedly better. NO it is NOT. I've spend 30 minutes trying to recreate a workflow that worked - I do nothing all day but sign in and out of things - HUNDREDS of times a day, and your software was a GODSEND until this mess of an update.

More steps! SLOWER! New learning curve! NO NO NO.

All the new upgrades in the past 3 years were genuine improvements that did NOT change the workflow!

    PLEASE! put it BACK.

DROP DOWN MENU is a one step 1 second fillin!
