Bundle discount for 1Password for Windows + MAS
Comments
-
Hi,
I've installed the trial version of 1Password on my Mac (home) and Windows PC (work). I've also purchased iPassword Pro for my iPad.
When I click on "purchase license" in the Mac 1Password app, then I am taken to the Agile Store. Here there's an offer for the 1Password Mac + Windows bundle.
This deal sounds good, but I also want a free upgrade to version 4 - otherwise it's not worth buying now.
Can you please tell me what the best option for me is?
Thanks!Flag 0 -

Can I sinc 1password on all three platforms?
Is windows upgrade of 1password also coming soon? If yes, what wil be my upgrade price? Should I wait to buy windows version until the upgrade rolls out?

Welcome to the forums, folks! Thanks for asking about this. I have sent you each a PM with some more details.
rsek, 1Password syncs via Dropbox between Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 7.
We don't normally pre-announce products or feature, so I don't have any information about an upcoming upgrade to 1Password for Windows, but as a point of reference, the current upgrade cost to go from 1Password 2 Mac to 1Password 3 Mac is $34.99.
Historically, we have been very generous with upgrades: Since we released 1Password, we have given away over 100 free updates and upgrades. We will continue this tradition of generosity and paid license holders will always get all point updates for free. (Going from version 3.5 to version 3.6 is called a “point update” and will be free if you have a 1Password 3 license.)
As with Mac upgrades in the past, major new releases of 1Password for Windows will require a paid upgrade, but it will be a discounted upgrade for paid license holders. Those who purchase 1Password within 45 days of any major upgrade will be able to upgrade for free. That is to say: major version upgrades are paid upgrades, unless you purchased your license within 45 days prior to the new version’s release.
Additionally, as it sounds like you are already aware, all Mac App Store purchases of 1Password come with a free upgrade to 1Password for Mac version 4 when it is available.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
Hello khad,
I have bought 1Password via the Apple Appstore a few minutes ago. I'm also interested in getting the bundle discount for the Windows version. My Apple ID is the same as the mail adress here.
By the way, I also have an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2, I think buying 1Password Pro should fit for both?
Best regards,
DominikFlag 0 -
Hi Khad,
I am a long term user of 1P on Mac and iPhone.
It is increasingly frustrating not having 1P on my Windows laptop, any chance of a PM with an upgrade option? My mac version is now MAS.
Many thanks.Flag 0 -
Hey Dominik and popeye9299,
I sent you each a PM with more details regarding a Windows license.
Dominik, 1Password Pro is exactly what you want to get since it is our universal app. It is designed for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I'm also in the same boat having purchased 1PasswordPro and 1Password for Mac. I think I even have an extra license kicking around from an old MacUpdate promo - could that be used as a Windows license?
Your software rocks and if I had only one suggestion it would be to make a Windows version of Knox. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -

Thanks for the kind words, iheijoushin, and welcome to the forums. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
The short answer is that Knox and its vaults can’t be used on the Windows platform.
Knox is exclusive to the Mac OS X due to its use of the built-in OS X encryption technologies and Apple’s proprietary sparsebundle format. While there may be some Windows applications that can read the sparseimage format and .DMG files, there aren’t any Windows applications that can read the sparsebundle format successfully as far as we are aware.
I'm sending you a DM with details about purchasing 1Password for Windows.Flag 0 -
I have already purchased 1Password from MAS for myself. I love it! I'm ready to go all in. I would like to upgrade to the following:
1) Me: Mac + Windows + iOS
2) Family member #1: Mac + Windows + iOS
3) Family Member #2: Mac + iOS
What is the cheapest way to do this?Flag 0 -
Welcome, Nathan!
In all cases:
Purchase 1Password for Mac on the Mac App Store:
https://agilebits.com/downloads/1Password/MacAppStore
Purchase 1Password Pro on the iTunes App Store:
https://agilebits.com/downloads/1Password/Pro
I'll send you a PM with details about purchasing Windows if you have already purchased 1Password on the Mac App Store. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
So there is no way to do a family discount?Flag 0

We sell a Family License of 1Password for Windows in our store. Just purchase the Family License there.
The licensing terms of the Mac App Store are very similar to our own Family License. From Macworld's Mac App Store FAQ:
"You can install apps bought from the Mac App Store on any and every Mac that you personally own and use."
"Apps don't check to see if you've using an iTunes-authorized Mac. They can ask you to verify your Apple ID and password, but that's a single check and it's just to verify you are who you say you are. Once your identity is verified, that's it. There's no authorizing or deauthorizing or counting of different Macs."
"Apps are purchased for and owned by a user linked to a single Apple ID. But if you log in with that ID on all the Macs in your household, you can download and install your apps on each one."
http://www.macworld...._store_faq.html
In short, the licensing for 1Password in the Mac App Store is (1) less expensive than it has ever been previously and (2) still has quite nonrestrictive licensing terms.
I can't think of any circumstances offhand in which a MAS license of 1Password for Mac would be any more restrictive than our Family license.
Similarly, you can install 1Password Pro on your iOS devices that share an Apple ID.
I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.Flag 0 -
Welcome to the forums, Twoje. Thanks for asking about this.
I've sent you a PM with the deal we have been offering to all the other MAS customers in this thread. The total price is actually less than $100 after the discount. I hope that's okay with you. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />Flag 0 -
Hi Khad.
I too recently purchased 1password from the MAS and it works so well with my iPad and iPhone that I know would like to purchase it for my Windows PC at work. Could you send me the info for the discount that everyone else on this topic is getting?
Also, I know you don't have a crystal ball, but could you tell me how the upgrading works specifically regarding the need to keep all instances on all platforms upgraded together? My fear is that I've just bought into a product that will require me to upgrade versions on 2 platforms now (pc & Mac) plus the iOS versions I have every year or so for about $40 each. That would be a bit rich for my tastes.
thanks for your help and thank you for offering discounts to those that bought from MAS. It's a kind gesture on AgileBits' part.Flag 0 -
Thanks for asking, danranda, and welcome to the forums.
I sent you a PM with the details on the Windows discount for existing MAS customers.
As you say, I obviously don't have a crystal ball, but if history is any indication…
The current version of 1Password is still "format compatible" with versions of 1Password from about 5 years ago. There has only ever been one paid upgrade in 1Password's entire history. And as you may already know, the MAS version you purchased includes a free update to 1Password 4 when it is available. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
I hope that helps put your mind at ease. If you have any further questions, please let me know.

I have a Macbook pro, Ipad, and I phone. I have not purchased anything as of yet but am planning to do so after finding out some more information. On my Macbook Pro I am using VMware Fusion as a virtual machine to run Windows 7. I have several Windows programs that I use because the Mac Versions are not as efficient. i.e. Quicken. Do I need 1Password for Mac + Windows? Do I need separate licenses for the IPad and iPhone, and Windows? Since I am not a user I am not sure what to purchase and what discounts to take advantage of. I have seen various discounts and discount codes and would like to take advantage of the best offer out there when I buy. I am impressed with the reviews but getting the correct products for my application is confusing. Should I buy thru the Apple Store etc.
Thanks for your time,
Hoping to be new customer soon

Welcome to the forums, Ken! We think it is better to not charge folks for platforms they don't use, so each platform is licensed separately. Additionally, Apple does not provide a way for developers to "bundle" applications in the iTunes App Store or Mac App Store.
In your case, you would need to purchase 1Password for Mac on the Mac App Store:
https://agilebits.co...ord/MacAppStore
1Password Pro on the iTunes App Store:
https://agilebits.co...s/1Password/Pro
And 1Password for Windows on the AgileBits store:
https://agilebits.com/store
Once you purchase 1Password for Mac, send me a PM. I can help you with a discount on 1Password for Windows as out way of saying thanks for purchasing 1Password for Mac.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -

I've bought 1PasswordPro for my iPod Touch on the iOs App Store, and 1Password on the Mac App Store. Can you send me a discount code for 1Password for Windows so I can complete the circle? <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />Flag 0
