• I tried the Command and get this Error:
chmod: Failed to clear ACL on file /var/db/launchd.db/com.apple.launchd.peruser.501/overrides.plist: Permission denied
What should I do?

Maybe user with ID 501 is not your user. Universal way would be to use the command like this
chmod -RN /var/db/launchd.db/com.apple.launchd.peruser.`echo $UID`/overrides.plist
• Thank you, my user was 502. Your command did not work properly, but thanks for the hint.
  • I'm having exactly the same problem as well and I'm not using Dropbox.
  • My previously working install to App Store upgrade was crashing repeatedly with the following message:

com.apple.launchd.peruser.501: ([0x0-0xb5cb5c].com.agilebits.onepassword-osx[56445]) Job appears to have crashed: Illegal instruction: 4

I also happen to have my ~/Downloads, ~/Movies, ~/Music, and ~/Pictures folders symlinked to a spinning hard drive (the rest of ~/ is on an SSD). On a hunch, I moved the symlinked folders into the ~/temp directory temporarily and 1Password started right up. I moved them back after the initial install and everything seems to be running fine now.

    Hope this helps someone else.

    The command:

    chmod -RN /var/db/launchd.db/com.apple.launchd.peruser.501/overrides.plist

    solved the problem for me!

  • i did not delete the old version of 1pasword before installing from appstore what to do?

Unfortunately, yes. Only the standard Dropbox configuration is supported.

Suppose I prefer SpiderOak to Dropbox. Purely hypothetical question, you understand!

Can I just create ~/Dropbox in the Finder, move my keychain there, tell SpiderOak to sync that folder, and get on with my life?

How about if I install dropbox.app, let *it* create ~/Dropbox, uninstall dropbox.app, move my keychain there, and then install 1P 3.9?

If that doesn't work, could I keep my keychain off of Dropbox's servers by installing dropbox.app, putting a dummy 1P keychain there, installing 1P 3.9, uninstalling dropbox.app, and then moving my real keychain there?

[s]You should be able to delete it now.[/s]

[s]The only issue that 1Password 3.9 is probably installed in the "1Password.localized" subfolder in /Applications. You should be able to move it out if needed.[/s]

EDIT: Please wait. We just had a report about problems with this.

    I think this will work.

You can also probably just sync the 1Password.agilekeychain stored in the ~/Library/Containers/com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/Data/Documents.

I actually thought of that myself. However, I still need to run an older version of 1P/Mac on occasion b/c you have dropped Export to Palm from 1P/Mac and never put it into 1P/Win, and I wasn't sure if there might be issues with trying to point older versions of 1P to that new location.

OTOH, keeping the keychain in ~/Dropbox strikes me as *possibly* a poor choice security-wise, undercutting one of Lion's promised benefits. I may be wrong here; I don't really understand this stuff well enough to be sure. Here's my thinking. There will probably be any number of apps that will legitimately want to be able to access ~/Dropbox. Wouldn't this make ~/Dropbox among the least-well "sandboxed" locations in my Home folder?

Does 3.9 allow me to keep my keychain on a thumb drive? If it doesn't, how would I tell a new installation of 1P how to find my keychain if I don't want to copy my keychain into ~/Dropbox?

Yes, you can use the thumb drive to copy the file between two Macs. 1Password will be able to import it when you are setting up a new installation.

To find the file on your first Mac, use 1Password > Preferences > General and click on the path shown under "Your Data Stored In".
  • I'm a new user who just downloaded from the app store, and absolutely nothing works in either FF6 or Chrome. No auto-login bar shows up, and the manual login does not work either. Might the app be incompatible with other extensions like ghostery, which I have installed on both browsers? If not, there is something very wrong here. Also, why have a contact page that says you respond to every email, and then provide no email address (at least not in any place one might find without effort)?

Still wondering whether 3.9 would allow me to set the path for my keychain to an external drive, or whether the sandboxing rules would forbid such a thing. If I'm using a friend's Mac, I wouldn't want to copy my keychain to that machine's hard drive unless I were compelled to.

I am having the same issue... I DO NOT use dropbox.. Upgraded from 1Password 3.8.5...

Any update on this - just hit it tonight when I updated one of my machines. Didn't want to start a new thread since the topic already appeared to be covered. Deleting both apps and reinstalling from the app store didn't seem to work.

    Thanks
